I thought as much, so if I look at this DALI stuff it will dim much further than what I have?

Yes for sure... The osram dimmer I mentioned is by far the most and effective simple solution.

With DALI or DMX you can commission a full control system the costs can get quite silly on larger scales

Thanks! I will try a newer version of the Varilight and if that doesn’t work I will continue to spend my money on cars and not fix it :p

I hadn’t realised that “dimmable” LED’s were not as dimmable (nor as easy to dim) as normal bulbs. In which case, maybe they won’t be any good to me. Think I’ll experiment with a couple and see what happens.

But for rooms without dimmers, such as hallways, landings, store rooms, etc, the cheaper non-dimmable warm white GU10 LED’s could still be useful.

Neither had I, it was an annoying drawback!

This is interesting! Can you get the Phillips hue bulbs cheap?
~5w e14 warm white ones

My Chinese wifi dimmable bulbs work pretty well, just a shame that I can't find any nice switched live switches, so occasionally the bulbs are off at the wall if not switched off with Google assistant

We are a Philips distributor, so can get the whole Philips range.

if you can't get a scangrip I've listed alternate options below

Make. Elwis - Link on SF
Model. High CRI Task Lamp
Wattage. 60w

Make. Elwis - Link on SF
Model. RECHARGEABLE TASK LAMP
Wattage. 20W 100-240V

thanks again for this

I'll ask, but as they are specialist detailing lamps I wouldn't hold your breath.

So, whats the thoughts on adding DLR lights in the front intakes on a Strad...too much?

Depends. That front looks lovely as is, so if you can keep them from being conspicuous when off but tastefully shaped when on then go for it. Knock up a few Photoshop examples and go for a public vote.

Geoff, not sure if you saw my link... Let me know what else you might need to know if not:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-Cl...&sr=1-1&keywords=gu10+dimmable+led+warm+white

Thanks again.

@Ewan

The dimmerable ones are £5 each the non dim £3.

So amazon look cheap. But have only a 2 year guarantee.

The guarantee on the ones we get is 5 years on dimmer able and 3 on non dimmer able.

I have been advised that those lamps are made for retail outlets only (B&Q, Wickes etc).

Thanks for trying... I'll chance it on the guarantee (not least because when they go in 3 years time I'll struggle to remember where I got them anyway!).

We can’t install anything with less than a 3 year guarantee.
