I

It was a green one from Steve at Posh Wheels over in Mansfield T50 JHL was the reg No. he still has it for sale but it is now advertised as his own personal car , what is the matter with these people ? never actually got to meet him but he seemed like a stand up guy , go figure !
Weird....no was a different one to the one I was messed about on then. Sellers seemed to be as bad as each other though.

Wow !
Looking after a Boxster can be expensive.
Been looking at some service history and seen some Big Bills indeed.
Bigger than Maserati ones.
Plus side is spares are readily available as is the technical knowledge so for me not a major concern.
Just amazed that on one car for £9,500 the owner had spent 5 months ago £4,500.
I would feel mean chipping the asking price.
Mine didn't cost anything in the time I had it not even a service as we're.on 2 year intervals and I didn't have it that long

My Alfa GT was another one which owner spent a ton on. He bought it for 5k the spent 5k on it over 12months. I paid a bit less than 5k for it.

Not quite sure how someone spent 16k on a 540i other than engine I guess.

If I remember it was:
£2k for a service, ok bit expensive
£8k for a new gearbox, again bit expensive
£6k for cats, WTF!?!?

None of it was under warranty and it was 8 years old at the time. Guy must have really liked it.

Cracking car the 540....loved both mine. Miss them both. A 1996/P 540i M Sport Auto saloon and the X/2000 540i M Sport Auto Touring.

Been looking at getting another E39 540 or M5 for ages now but most are **** or too expensive. Doesn't make sense at moment.

I’m amazed how much people spend on repairs sometimes, my old 540i had a receipt in its service history for £16,000 with a main dealer.

Are radiators and AC condensers on Boxsters a week spot like they are with 911s? Presume they’re in the same place behind the front bumper. They get full of leaves and rot on 996/997.
Yes there are a week spot but are easy diy change , a lot of people put mesh behind the grill to stop leaves getting in there also there are aftermarket replacement grills on the market to .

An old mate of mine has a Cayman, bought it for cheap and it blew the engine, he's now sticking a V8 engine in it...sadly an american one not an Italian. If you wait a while he might get shot of it after spending loads of money on it...

I have plenty of time and half the fun is looking.
I'm banking on there being some good deals to be had after Brexit as I'm going to buy one in the UK as they are expensive this side of the Channel.

Read a few now and its still tugging at me as Good value for money and a Fun Sports car.
I would like a Lancia Fulvia 1600 HF like my father used to have but in reality I could have 4 Boxster 3.2 S.

go for the boxster, you'll only regret it if you don't when you look back in life, I wish I had done many more things in my younger days that I now regret not doing

Totally agree.
After many of the cars I have bought over the years this is a small purchase but another one I'm excited about like buying my little Renault 4.

They’re probably about as cheap as they’re going to get. They’ll go the way of the £5k M5 or £15k 964 soon.

Not driven the 3.2 Boxster but im a big fan of M and I love the quality and value fo money of some models
The e46 M is a great car and moved on a lot from e36 but make sire it’s manual as smg2 was bad
