Good work Newton. Contrary to those thinking that I'm joking by registering my interest in joining Newton, I am indeed totally up for it.

Newton and I need to meet up and make some initial plans, such as a week long holiday/trip early on this year to see if we can manage/tolerate a week in a kayak! On wards from there a formal training regime will be established, times and dates for the adventure locked in, and of course buying a suitable craft!

I’m in too, although I will be mostly sitting down waiting for those two to pitch up. If anyone can source an Amphicar we could borrow, I could tail them shouting foul-mouthed encouragement all day long!

That is the starting point!

I wonder say holy cow but somehow it doesn't seem appropriate

Has to be a good thing to drop a couple of lbs so good luck with it. I will be doing similar to get a smidge fitter and leaner.

What is your target weight destination?

Wishing you the Best of Luck Newton.
Its work that keeps my weight steady and you do more than your share of Graft.

Im a lightweight in comparison but lost a stn. in October just by going tea total. Put it all back on over Christmas and still have my winter holiday to go before I do the same (not drinking ) again.

My aim is to shed it all by the next birthday in mid march and enter my next decade the same weight I started it.

Best of luck with the challange I have every confidence in your endeavour.

Best weight lose method for me is cutting out the booze. Saves me a fortune too!

So that’s part 1 of my plan to become an “elite athlete” over the next 22 months.
Part 2 I will do with the assistance of Orla over in Ireland, as I’ll be over there Monday to Friday for the foreseeable future. Gym, food and focus will be her department.

Newton, maybe Matt would donate and curate a website for us to document our progress and host a blog...?

Certainly looking forwards to watching you pair become Elite Athletes and hope to catch some of the action when you get to France.

Go for it boys....looking forward to tune in to the developments. Slight/lithe aerobic machine you will be.

I'll try to emulate your work with my garage cycling. Managed 5 mins as a tester yesterday but feel more is needed somewhat!

As you both mention cutting out a fair bit of the bad/good stuff is an easy obvious way to make a big dent day one. Then it becomes harder and laws of diminishing returns become evident I guess.

Good luck with the journey boys

I lost a stone over six months just by cutting out mid week (Monday - Friday) booze any snacks between meals other than fruit. Combined with a 45min brisk walk mist days. Put it all back on over the past 18months when work pressures with a new job led to much much longer hours blah blah.

Am planning to go back to that regime for 2019 before my man boobs take over

I can feel a weight loss thread is needed where we can all motivate each other....

I weighed myself this morning, and am starting 2019 at least two stone over where I would consider myself lean.

Don't think I'm too bad to kick off with....mainly increased fitness is my desire but am sure a smidge of weight will come off but hopefully not too much.

I'm bang on 6ft and weigh 13st3 or 83kg in new money. I suspect 12.5 stone would be ideal.

I'll chip in tomorrow morning. Been a bit of a year, but target will be sub 13.5 and I'm 6'4"
I suspect I'm at least 20 lbs above that right now

4lb of me is from an unrestricted diet heading for Christmas. My weight has generally been consistent (stubbornly you might say), in fact I weighed exactly the same back in early 2008 I have been around 20st 8lb - 21st 4lb all that time. I am and have always been an 'over eater' and a very occasional drinker (alcohol) so I can be confident it is essentially carbs that are my enemy as I like little sweet stuff I'm a sucker for savoury 'snacks'.

As I have previously said the only negative thing I am aware of (apart from social difficulties) of with my Asperger's is a complete absence of s 'full' signal when eating, I will literally eat until it comes out of my ears! I'm sure if I let myself I'd give Shaun a run for his money! So this whole challenge is to put an immovable road block in the way so I have to change my ways...

Today is much smaller portions, little carbs and low fat but I am stuck at my desk at the moment!

I'm also 6'4", 15 to 15.5 St. I've found right for me after being well over 17 for about 20 years until I did something about it.
If I was 13.5 I would honestly look ill!
