Anyone ever done four tins of Carlsberg Special Brew after being dumped by a bird?

I found out since Special Brew was brewed in honour of Winston Churchill with overtones of brandy, and was never meant to become the preferred method of inebriation for tramps and Scotsmen.

Once had three tins of Barley Wine in the Blue Boar in Bolton before meeting a lass for first date, three tins would fit in a pint glass. £1.80 it cost, was some time ago.

Wine Society or Majestic for me... plus the odd case or two from wine tasting trips to either Napa Valley or the Barossa Valley.

There is no excuse for buying cheap wine, and the difference between a £6 bottle and a £12+ bottle is enormous. Unfortunately the same is true at every price point, and it’s way too easy to find yourself drinking more and more expensive wines...

Mentioned a place near Calais a while ago. Not exactly the local corner shop but if anyone is planning a trip …. numerous domaines offer shipping.

just came back from the dreaded xmas market trip to bruges, Antwerp and some other place I cant remember, stopped off at the Auchan supermarket in Calais on the way back and loaded up with wine at 3.5 euros a bottle, probably taste like cr4p but as I said i'll drink anything, they did have some bottles at 1.49 euros:eek:

I’ve found I now prefer lighter hangovers, so I stick to natural/organic/biodynamic wines. The chemicals used in most vine growth and wine production, even some First growths, are what gives those banging headaches.

In the U.K., Buonvino, Vintage Roots and Waitrose Cellar do great mail order organic wines. Interestingly, some better vineyards choose not to label their wines organic, even if they are. Apparently, it can restrict sales by suggesting to the average drinker, that they are for weirdy-beardy people. Aldi sells a good Spanish organic red for £4.99, but generally they tend to be more expensive just because of the smaller scale production. Much like Masers of old.

As an aside, there are now 60 commercial vineyards in Wales. One of my best mates runs one. The Romans grew vines successfully in Wales - stressing them by planting them close to trees. Must get round to trying it sometime...

We all know Maserati ownership automatically makes you a connoisseur as opposed to a show off.
As such I'm sure there are plenty on here that enjoy the odd glass of vino, or twelve?

Where does everyone get their wine from?
I'm a wine society member & also buy from Aldi(!!) for the most part & occasional Majestic wines....

The warehouse I work in.....don't tell the boss though.......Ah that's me.....

There’s loads and loads to read about wine, but this is one of my favourites.

Wine is very individual and I am no connoisseur ..... I know what I like and that's good enough. I've had 30/40 £ bottles and they have been bloody awful and the £7/8 bottle I have each week has been much better..... I don't like beer and lager but love wine and finding new and exciting ones is great. One I have found lately is Passerina and Pecorino both In Tesco finest range....and also like Calvet Prestige Bordeaux Savignon Blanc.

If you like Rioja, this is my favourite. Normally £12.00 in Tesco's or Waitrose but just occasionally at £8.99 on offer in the Co-op:
