Considering FF

IMO, it’s listening to idiots makes you look like a knob; it’s not what they think that matters, it’s what you think that counts. I drive a 14 year old bitsa with the roof down, whatever the weather, and I don’t give a tuppenny toss what any tw4t thinks, I do it because I like it. Life really is too short to give ground to trolls, go for it and if I can ever afford a PF, I’ll f*cking have one.

As always (or for once?) the voice of reason.

I agree with Benny 100%. Life is too short to worry what people think. Buy the car and enjoy it. Everyone has an opinion that they are entitled to. However it really doesn't matter. The only opinion that matters is yours.

Any man over a certain looks a cock in a Convertable no matter what one it is but add Ferrari name to it and you may as well have knob head tattooed on your forehead......and I include me in that...drove a 430 Spyder in the summer and saw my reflection in a shop window....Yep cock came to mind.......BJL your friend was right.

You are coming across as a little bit vain there mate; the fact you looked at yourself in a shop window says just about everything...... Yep, cock comes to mind....... BJL, your friend is a knob.

Totally disagree. So an old boy in a convertible E Type looks like a cock? Or an old MG?

If your perception of you driving a certain car doesn't fit with the car don't buy it or drive it. As Ian said, stuff what anyone else thinks!
I personally wouldn't buy a pink Micra convertible but would love a 430 Spyder, if someone thought I looked like a knob in it so what, I'd probably put it down to jealously.

People spend too much time worrying about what others think, and then miss out on so many great experiences.

What the flying F**k has age got to do with it??!! You want a cabriolet because you like the sensation it gives you I assume BJL? So don't let what others think deny you of what you enjoy and have worked hard to achieve..............Stirling Moss doesn't!!

What an amusing turn this thread has taken.

My view, it depends where you are. Drive through London with the roof down in a Fezza, people will think ill of you. Frankly, you're better with the roof up and the fumes out.

A country lane or a A-road blast with the roof down is the stuff of dream and grins. Go for it, and if you worry what you look like make sure you go for it fast enough that no one sees you for long enough to form an opinion.

As for the PF, I saw one in the flesh a week or so back and it looks the bollox. Loads lovelier than in the photos, and that baboon's ar5e rear diffuser is so much less protuberant in real life. Gorgeous car. Buy one, Barrie. And put Iain down for sloppy seconds and me for thirds, please. You'll be wanting it in TDF blue with the ciuio (or however you spell it) interior.

The Portofino is a long story. Loved it when I saw it in Portofino at the launch, loved it in the flesh in London and couldn’t wait for delivery due Spring 2019 but then someone close to me said.....’ don’t you think men your age look a bit of a knob in convertible’. Well that brought the curtain crashing down so the order is deferred pending first glimpse of the Alfieri which is due I believe when **** freezes over. So sorry Iain, could be a long wait.
Did you give up your build slot?!

You can always put the roof up. It makes the PF look even better when you do. (Unless Penelope Cruz is driving it, that is.)

I was looking at the Ferrari Convertable that was in the window and thinking I would look a knob in that to. But let's be clear looking like a knob and being one is very different. Didn't say anyone was a knob just looked like one. I would love a convertible and would have one and just for the record I wouldn't care if people thought I looked like a knob but the truth is I would and everyone else over 55 looks like a knob in one. That just the facts I'm afraid.

There are no facts here........just opinions. It’s important to know the difference!

And in my opinion there are lots of factors that might determine how other people see a 55+ man driving a convertible - btw I am just the right side of that line so I must be okay - like what he is driving, how he is driving, where he is driving, in what weather he is driving - all can to a greater or lesser degree influence the 3rd party cock-factor

I've just driven down to Frankie Wankhands, apparently, looking like a knob. A lovely day for top down motoring and I'll never meet anybody I passed who thought I was a knob. My advice; if you are so insecure as to your personal image and what people think about it, don't buy a noisy, open top Italian car. However, if, like me, you couldn't give a toss, buy one and have a great time. IMO, the only people who look like knobs driving a convertible are the fuckwits that drive them with the roof up, in any weather except a storm with a name.
