To X pipe or not to X pipe.

Can I please have any views on having an X pipe installed on My GTS. I just love the engine noise in Manual sport mode in second gear and wondering if the X pipe will put the icing on the cake, so to speak.

Many thanks..

X or H pipe is the way to go. X for more crackles and higher pitch or H for deeper bassier and louder soundtrack. H for me all the way.

Lots of people on here (me included) have done so, and all seem to love it...

I waited about 12 months after buying my GTS before I put the x-pipe on, and wish I had done it sooner.

I’ve got a Larini X on mine, and the best bits are the sound when accelerating through 2-3000 rpm in 2nd, the noise in any gear when above 5,000 rpm, the snarl I get when changing down, and the pops and crackles on the over-run.

Long-winded way of saying yes - just do it!

Personally, I find the H gives louder pops and bangs and, because the gas streams are separate, they come out of each tail pipe at different times. Which is nice!

Yup, everything Jon said. I'm an x-man (no jokes, please) more than an H. The X is more refined and understated yet no less loud (in dB terms). There's almost a mournful wait up from 2-3k which is just wonderful.

Did a Sparts X vs H pipe video and it is interesting how it divides. There is no right or wrong just personal preference.

I have an X fitted now but on my old GTS I had a H fitted and I prefer the H pipe. The X sounds more Italian to me, more of a scream and the H sounds deeper. I think an X would be more suited to a flat plane crank maybe but just my opinion.
Larini is expensive but looks like a work of art.

There's an X on mine.

Preferably an X Pipe on a GTS and a H Pipe on a 4200/GS.

Well, that's what I had on mine.

Did you replace the manifold and cats or just the cats? Sounds epic. At one point I think I ducked it was so loud. Guy next to me on the train was wondering why I was twitching

Cats and Centre section (H). Nothing is louder out there, trust me.

Just do it. It's not big money. And you can always change back if you don't like it, and recoup some money by selling it on to someone else.

What's best for a QPV? I'd have thought X pipe but as the car is double glazed and no doubt pretty well soundproofed in order to hear some proper noise an H might be better? Ideally I'd like to hear it all the time, but mainly on the motorway in preference to tyre noise. So something that makes noise not just on acceleration but on general touring.

Doesn't the QPV have some sort of X pipe on it anyway, certainly looks like one underneath...

I have a Larini X on mine and it is good and loud and sounds brilliant. The Larini H has some silencing and so is a little quieter I understand.
