EASYMAS Diagnostic - Beta

Greetings Maserati Owners,

Whilst having direct access to a beautiful 4200 Coupe it soon became apparent that affordable diagnostics was hard to come by, made worse by lack of public domain information on how to access the vehicle various data streams. This situation was no surprise and applies to most if not all supercars.

Despite these issues we got hooked by the mystery and starting looking at a system to at least get faults codes and sensor data from a few Maserati ECU's.

Any solution obviously would not match the costly dealer SD machines or other limited available options but it certainly would give aftermarket DIY owners their own diagnostic capability.

So we set to work on this in 2016 and many times thinking why we started!

First starting with the Engine ECU using the OBDII standard, this like all vehicles late 90s onwards must provide mandatory data having the same format for all vehicle manufactures. Nothing special there as all generic OBDII scanners will work for the Maserati Engine ECU.

The first software project was to make it less OBDII generic by using terminology more suitable for V type engines - LH Bank, RH Bank etc. We have been writing and selling OBDII software for many years and with that a tested version was ready quite soon being put through its paces on the MY02 4200 Coupe.

The next project was to address the unknown and gain knowledge of diagnostics for F1 Gearbox, Suspension, Steering and ABS.

This was a vast and frustrating task with very little to go on. We started from scratch using knowledge of standard diagnostics protocols used on most commercial vehicles. Eventually success came in being able to get responses from various ECU's though at this stage the data was still meaningless.

Using actual SD Reports from previous servicing on the 4200 we could see the type of data to expect and by the time consuming process of disconnecting / reconnecting sensors, operating controls and driving we could see various fault codes and value changes. Again most of this information was meaningless but did follow certain patterns. Many of the faults codes are seen as standard for some ECU's but many are unique. Most seem match Ferrari descriptions available in the public domain, no surprise there. Well progress was very slow, simulating the various sensors and tracing ECU connections but light was at the end of the tunnel.

Then in late 2017 we lost the ability to test on the 4200 Coupe, at this point we purchased various ECU’s to test on.

At this point we are able to release beta versions for some ECU’s.

We kindly ask that 2 forum members with access to 1 or more different Maserati's give the system a try. Those members will get the hardware and software sent to them for free. They will not need to return and will receive any updates for free. All we ask is that they test and report back on occasion.

**Please PM interest and available vehicles**

Then once confidence is raised we will sell the system at a 3 month introductory offer to forum members at £395, free updates, free worldwide shipping and 3 year warranty on the hardware. Our Web store price will be £495 from the date of release.

Hopefully with the help from the forums we can grow this product and iron out any glitches on the way.

Current models, MY supported TBA but starting from 4200 Coupe MY02 and most models to MY10

F1 Gearbox ECU – Beta Ready soon!

I shall watch with interest. It looks quite comprehensive. The only thing I can see missing from a diy point of view would be an airbag reset, or is this a simple task?

That would be great, especially with the passenger deactivation switch Achilles heel.

Very impressive so far & best wishes with the testing. It would a great help to those that live quite far from a local indies/dealer.

When the two suitable guys are picked that can do justice to a testing regime and testing is complete, I would very much like to purchase one of these units. A big thanks Steve for putting in the research and time developing the system.
