Hi guys. I'm having some issues after following this forum so loaded the img file onto the new pata SSD however when I went to put the head unit back into the car the screen did not power on and the dash said: "system not programmed". Do you have to format the new drive in FAT32 before putting the img file on to the new disk? My drive was formatted to exFAT instead of FAT32.

'The' img file meaning what, exactly?

Phil is the expert here, but I suspect you've got some more hoops to go through

Like I say, Phil is your man. I'm a bit too lubricate to recall everything right now, but I suspect a *not* FAT32 format and partition is required. I'll try to help more in the morning, if he doesn't
Oh and you need to make sure your slave / master is set right

Thank you for your assistance I certainly appreciate your help. The slave and master jumper is not necessary according to the earlier post. I was instructed to break off the last two sets of pins where the jumpers would normally go in order to make the hard drive fit. So I reformatted the drive to fat32 and mounted the image file onto the drive with identical partition as the old drive. Now the head unit turns on but gets stuck on the Maserati logo. I tried disconnecting the battery to reset the ECU to see if it would fix the problem but unfortunately, it did not.

So couple of things spring to mind. Master / slave jumpers are not the same for all drives. Can you recall if it needs to be a master (I'd assume so) and is your drive set to that?
Secondly when you say 'mount' the image, what did you do exactly?

Cheers

We tried that image which was uploaded and it failed on both of our cars so it was either corrupt on the upload or the dd restore we used was wrong. We tried it for weeks to get it to work but couldn't. SSD is not the solution here as it doesn't handle TRIM as I posted a few pages back. My SSD failed after 3 months.

If you want a working solution for a 4.2 or 4.7 (different HW so different image) in the form of a warrantied HDD then I can help you.

Did you try enabling TRIM, Phil? At least some SSD drives support it. My current Air, for example:

c00258a$ system_profiler SPSerialATADataType | grep 'TRIM'

TRIM Support: Yes

No, the one I used didn’t. It’s worth a shot but I prefer spinning disk.

Fair enough :) It's not even clear (to me) if it's a setting in the OS alone, or if the OS sets the firmware. I'm falling behind on all this tech ;)
Can you share prices for replacement discs, BTW?

Cheers

You seem to be able to get them for a £2-300 or so, cheaper to get the cable separately, presuming that is my current issue. Could be useful for other spare parts people needed in the future though

I've attached a few more photos, to be honest I'm struggling with the continuity checking, the connectors are very small! Some pins seem to be working, others not. As for moving it there is a little room but I wouldn't know where to start!

Ferrers where did you source the cable from?

Did you get this fixed? We tried that image and it failed.

Drives in stock for 4.2 and 4.7 cars so let me know if you have a problematic stuck/rebooting NIT on your GT/S.

Just wanted to bring another issue with the headunit which I’m yet to find the root cause .

The date and time in the unit can not be changed no matter what I do , even taking battery off didn’t help.
It shows the menu fine and can I change the values , but when I select OK nothing happens . It shows a random time in the dash . And in the headunit it shows “- - -“ instead of time and date.
Tried it both with GPS setting enabled and disabled and no change . It shows the time in dash display incorrectly too.

Has anyone else faced this issue and managed to resolve ? Everything else works fine . The unit is Magneti Marelli
