I have been away for a bit so coming into this thread a llate stage. Let me tell you from first hand experience as a 308GT4 owner for two years that it takes a very brave man to get involved with one of these cars. Basically, they are junk and the Mondial is even bigger junk. My advise to anyone contemplating either of these two cars is to run a mile from the thought of owning one. Yes they are very cheap to buy but that is the easy bit.

Hmm, you didn't buy mine did you???!!!

(joke!)

I had mine as a daily driver for two years, but it did as many miles with me as it had done in the prior 20 years. Certainly can't muster the same enthusiasm for a Mondial which I've driven many of. And I'd still have a GTB/S over a Dino, but it has a place in my heart.

Hey Paco read one of my early threads on 308GT4 ownership. I bought mine privately with just 4,000 miles on the clock back in 1976. It cost me £7,000 to buy and I spent a further £7,000 in 2 years to cover just 14,000 miles. It does not sound much by todays standards but trust me back then it was a fortune. I agree with you about the GTS. Basically, once Ferrari swapped those Weber carbs for fuel injection their cars became much better behaved.

Other than the GTB/GTS injection, all those so called cheap Ferraris are a waste of space. The cost of repairing them and running them far outweighs their value. Personally, unless I was buying a classic Ferrari like a Daytona I would steer clear of Mondials and GT4's .......The first true modern Ferrari has to be the 355

I did know someone who had one (GT4) back in the day and was unfortunate enough to have a minor bump in it, the thing just folded up because it was rusty, and only about 3 or 4 years old!! My GT4 came with £30k of restoration bills so someone had already had a chance to build it like Ferrari didn't do, which may explain why it was relatively trouble free!! (and cheaper to run than my 3200!). The nice thing about them is they are just nuts and bolts, the home mechanic can cope with most jobs, but the bodywork would give me sleepless nights, as they seem to rot from the inside out.

Agreed on the 355, shame the cars just kept getting bigger though.

Oh for a "modern" Dino 246!

Funny thats about the only thing that was good about mine.........not a sign of any rust but then it was a relatively new car

My car dealer friens has a white one of these..He bought it ages ago and has done it up..Forgot he had it until I drove past on Saturday and it was on the forecourt...Must pop in and have a look....Would have thought it would be around 14/15k but after speaking to his right hand man I think it will be the wrong side of 20k...seems alot when the 348 is not much more...

So 22k on a 308 or 25k on a 348..Think I would hold out for a 348..or better still buy a GS.

348 was a pig of a car..I like the look but handling was a bit interesting to say the least...I think most will say the 355 was the last of the pretty Ferrari and a true classic. Buy one and keep it as it will go up in value.

328 is a good buy as well. creeping up in value, they are great cars, been in a few and very nice indeed.

Yes Andy and what is more of a crime is that since the engine rebuild over a year ago he still hasn't started it. Making matters even worse this car is very rare in UK being one of a couple made in yellow
