Yes agree, red really suits the AC. As a buy it now at 13995 can not imagine it would go for more plus it starts at 13500. Doesn't mention when it was last serviced so that could be a cost on top. Also first two services not stamped in the book. Belts changes at 56k though. Also engine light on. SOunds like it needs a good indi inspection.

This appears to be a private sale, but it's the same one (72/75) that was recently for sale on Pistonheads through a dealer called Berkshire Performance Cars. On the face of it, it looks like it was bought and is now being resold.

Ah yes so it is.....Interesting. When it went off their web site they had a 3200 on the site so I though someone had px.......It could be that they were selling it for this chap. Don't think he is the dealer as the stuff he has sold in the past has been mostly electric guitars.

It is the same car that was at Berkshire. I have just contacted the chap selling. He has only had it for a month or so and is selling as his wfe has been made redundant.

Are you thinking of buying this one?

Yes for a 2nd, nut to be honest if I was to buy an AC I would want to get from a known specialist with a good warranty.

I doubt you'll ever get a "good warranty" on a 9 year old Supercar unless you pay through the nose for it! A good indie inspection and private sale discount could be worth more anyway. Seems cheap for an AC, but slight downside that there are a couple of stamps missing, aside from any issues raised during inspection.

Nige I got a full warranty with mine. I paid almost 20 Grand for it but since then the supplying dealer has replaced all the brake discs & pads, aircon vac pump and a couple of other items so money well spent on my part.

Do you know how much the warranty component was though? I looked into an aftermarket warranty for my last 3200 and for anything decent incl wear and tear it was about £2k (and based on past experience claiming on these can be quite hard even with a fairly comprehensive warranty). I guess a main dealer will have access to better warranty rates, but would be interesting to know how many of your claims they actually ended up putting back to the warranty company....brake pads and discs sounds more like dealer cost/good will!

Pibbow, you have one of the nicest AC's to come up for sale in a while...I know it was top money but well worth it and the piece of mind of that great Maserati warranty.

Nige you are correct the dealer has paid for the work todate.

The point I was making is that it may seem an expensive way to purchase a 3200 but long term it will be a cheeper option. We all know of the pitfalls people fall into buying a car for 10,000 & then spending another 5 or 6 and then selling it at a loss as either funds or enthusiasm run out.

I agree, if you look at the red one for sale I would imagine if would cost a fair bit to get it up to the standard of your AC....replace the worn sterring wheel and gear knob, paint needs sorting on the front and probably a detail to get to your cars standard. Service in 3k miles, wheels need refurb...If you add that to the price you are not far off what you paid for yours and you have the warranty as well...

Yep Pete, I think that's a good point. One thing to bear in mind is that I think Meridien are better than most for this sort of thing - they build in pretty high margins to their prices so then don't make too much fuss about paying a bit in goodwill to keep people happy (Meridien did pads, discs, wishbones and scuttle tray on mine as goodwill). Meridien retail very few 3200s now and other dealers may not have the same margins or approach....there was someone on here last week having problems just after sale with one of the specialist dealers that has quite a good reputation.

Agree, Nige you really do have top be very choosy these days and even then have your witts about you. It's a sad state of affair.

One thing I would say is that history is paramount on these cars, and I mean general care and minor items rather than just stamps in a book. There aren't that many 3200s about, so it's often possible to find a bit of history via the forums and/or by contacting specialists (....though seemingly not in the case of this red AC). On this basis ideally I would buy a known member's car privately in preference to an unknown car from a dealer.

The red AC is now at £12500 on ebay with no reserve. I reckon it could be a pretty good buy to be honest....desireable model with decent miles.
