Morning everyone!
It's a lovely soggy day in North Wales. I'm looking over the Menai Straits at Snowdonia right now and can't see any mountains. Take care as you drive through them, MrMickS and JKulin. There are quite a few mud patches from farm vehicles and mini rivers across roads from water runoff. Lots of leaves in a few places too and it's blowing a gale.
So I did manage to drive up yesterday as the stomach just started settling and I could go reasonable distances between service stations!
I used to be driven from Northampton to Anglesey around 6 times a year growing up as we came to visit my grandparents and other relatives during school holidays. At the time, the A5 through the mountains was the best option so I fell in love with that road and the landscape.
My Nain died before I got a driving licence so I didn't get to drive it myself until 4 years ago when I drove my mother and me in Lottie the Saab, with the roof off. Amazingly I knew the whole road in my subconscious.
So, I've been longing for the day I would get to drive it in my dream car, and that was yesterday. I dropped the roof just before leaving England once off motorways. The weather was dry with patchy sunshine, the leaves have started turning and falling and the road was 90 mins of bliss. Slightly emotional actually, particularly when and after crossing the Menai Bridge and driving by the straits looking back over the mountains.
Myfanwy certainly sang well and that roar and the pops and bangs had me giggling all the way. There was no doubt a Maserati was enjoying the mountain roads! The only concerning thing was that I managed around 24mpg over the whole journey from Oxford.
HapPea Friday!
