have you tried replacing the relays? I got a fair bit of improvement in by replacing all the relays, they are not expensive, and whether its the sockets and the contacts that are dodgy it certainly worked for me. Just wondering with the fact that moving it or bumping it around makes it worse, it might be a relay internally that failing. Also note that there is a known problem with one of the accelerometers mounted in the front near the radiators that blows fuses when it fails and this happens when you hit bumps. I would also try making sure the fuses in the footwell are all seated properly. Or just find a specialist! :)

Thanks ...... I've had a dig around in the footwell and they all looked secure. I think the indie is probably the safest bet.

I've had a very similar issue where the power cuts out completely, this was traced to a loose battery so check this thoroughly and all the leads and terminals.

In addition to all the guidance, I've also had a few other electrical issues which caused cut out, one was a water pipe in the engine bay coming loose and melting cables, the fuse box in the boot is always coming loose as the plastic connection loosens over time, I used tape to keep it in permantly. The rear license plate cabling had been bodged previously so this was redone. After this check the all the wiring in the engine bay, I had to redoe the wrapping on the electric wires with new heat tape. If you need any I'm in Kingston and can let you have some.

I don't think Autofficinia will be able to fix this they mostly look after the more modern cars.

So I've come back from work and taken her for a spin....No problems and can't recreate the fault which is bloody annoying.

I had a good look at the battery and the connections and one interesting observation in the battery compartment is there is a very high pitched whine, which Im assuming is a fuel pump in that vicinity but i don't remember hearing it before. Does this sound normal?

One other thing that dawned on me about yesterday afternoon is that it was hot. The car worked fine yesterday morning and it did again this evening and the temperature is much cooler. Do these cars suffer from temperature related issues? Im sure they do but Im new to this 3200 adventure....

Thanks M

So I’ve just left the garage after a very funny experience.

I explained the problem and we went to test the car. I fired her up and the mechanic pulled out the crank sense and gave it a gentle wiggle......the engine cut out! I’ve renamed him the Maserati whisperer :)

I’m hoping this is the route of the problem and is backed up by an error code

Thanks for all the input guys I’ll keep you posted

Cheers M

Excellent!!! simple enough. hope that's it sorted for a bit. These cars are now of an age where nothing is really within its design life, so sensors and stuff are all possible problem areas. I changed this sensor many years ago as I was getting occasional errors, and it helped for sure.
