Does anyone know a good, reliable company who do covered car transportation? Must be covered as I have cars cleaned and spot on and don't want them to arrive at their new owner's place with a coating of salt, dirt and grime if they're on an open transporter. Any help would be appreciated.

Dicky, will pm you details if I can find them on my phone - am in Val D'Isere at moment. Really nice bloke has moved a couple of cars for me. Covered trailer towed by Discovery, and is very careful with them. Does a fair bit of work for one of the specialists, but I can't remember which one!

Cheers Nigel. Much appreciated. PM sent. As he's based in Retford it may be dear for me but I'll contact him nonetheless.

Hope your not stuck there with the avalanche...I'm just over the valley on Chorchevel...wish it would stop snowing and be sunny for more than 30 seconds .

Dicky its worth contacting the main dealers , they all have guys that they use who reguarly want return or forward trips to match their own pickups and deliveries , and they are used to handling the top end cars , trouble is with using someone too far away is with fuel costs they have to be on the dearer side ... but then you know that

Afternoon all,

Just to this resurrect thread a bit - a friend of mine needs to transport a fairly valuable car to his workshop for some fettling - somewhere around Surrey to Gloucester - would need to be covered (both physically and insurance!) Any recommendations??

If they're towing for hire and reward ask if they have a tachograph fitted, without it your car could get impounded along with their trailer , certain dual purpose vehicles are exempt from operator licencing but if they're towing with a van they'll also need an operators licence as well as a tachograph

you don't want this chancer picking your pride and joy up

Cheers guys - will pass those links on to him - don't think cost is the big issue but making sure the car is safe - is apparently worth quite a bit!

I used a chap called Simon Denyer from classic haul. Very straightforward to deal with has a covered trailer, does work for dealers and private. He seemed well priced indeed, I opted for uncovered @ £750ish to transport from Southampton to Glasgow, he did the trip overnight as well when it was a bit quieter.

Dicky will PM who we use, he is used to moving Ferrari's, Lambo's and Maser, not cheap but one of the best.

Hi Phil,

Is it covered? Insured?

Let us know if so.

Thanks everyone else foe the recommendations-I've passed them all on.
