Ok thanks guys I'll give them a visit later in the week, I like the magnetic sump plug for about £6 seems like an inexpensive upgrade :)

Well my first experience of needing some assistance came about last week. So I dropped the car at BHP (nr Aylesbury) for a battery change (it'd let me down twice after not being driven for a few days), an investigation into whether the tracker may have been draining it unduly, a new set of mats (whoo-hoo!) and sourcing / "installing" a trickle charger. Parts came to £430 (inc VAT) and a grand total of 3/4 of an hr of labour = £51 + VAT (labour rate is about £68 ph if I recall). I mean, how many main dealers - regardless of brand - would charge you so little when they could've easily mugged me for a couple of hours!? AND, he gave it a quick wash too.

Neil at BHP was very accommodating, happy to talk Lambos, Ferraris and all the rest of it, showing me what they had around the place. Thoroughly professional, welcoming, decent and all-round although my experience is so far small, I'm more than happy to recommend them - and indeed have to a couple of local acquaintances.

As an aside, I asked for a guide for servicing - about £550 from memory was his response, which strikes me as quite decent (I may proven a fool naive fool now!).

Thats great to hear, BHP quote prices on our site (with some discount of course!)

Woo ho!!!

Visited Superformance UK Ltd. in Hoddesdon today and got to have a good long chat with Colin the owner/MD. They are well tucked away just a couple of hundred yards from Dobbs Weir and proved quite a challenge to find. This is not a problem though because they are essentially an online suppliers only so location is irrelevant to most of us.

Colin's business has grown from supplying parts for Dino's into all Ferrari and he is expanding. I had been slightly cautious as nobody seemed to have had dealings with them in the past; Colin explained that they are only just setting up for Maserati and have been keeping quiet until such time as they have sufficient stock to meet our needs. This is indeed an honourable way of doing things. What I found was a bustling distribution centre and a knowledgeable and helpful team we can have confidence in. I introduced Colin to the forum and I hope he will sign up and expand upon their plans and and even arrange a forum members discount code or something when he is ready. I'm sure Matt will let him have details of any sponsorship in the future.

I duly picked up my magnetic sump plug, copper washers, 20 liters of eni i-Sint 5w-40 oil and an oil filter... and an invoice :)

Here's hoping Superformance UK Ltd. will indeed become a key supplier of parts for us.

Hunting for new wheels I came across Greg Smith, an Englishman in Ireland. He runs Premier Performance Car Parts, selling mainly in eBay I think, and he was a pleasure to deal with both by email and over the phone. He got the wheels to me fast, having sent warts and all photos beforehand. I'm not sure how often he has stock available, but he happened to be breaking an '04 4200 which suited me just fine. Worth a try and recommended.

Recommended: Locksmith.

A friend managed to lock the sole key to his '04 BMW in the boot. Clever eh?

He made a wire loop and managed to reach in and pull the inside door handle but deadlocks kept the doors locked. He managed to rig something else to reach the central locking switch on the dash but it didn't respond either. He rang BM and they said post '08 cars can have their central locking overridden on the CANBUS with a dealer's laptop but his old one can't.

Faced with having to break the lock after a quick Google he called this guy instead. Steve turned up promptly and picked the lock in the old-fashioned way in less than two minutes. He also cut a new spare key (without remote). All for £100. Probably cheaper than breaking something.

My friend asked if he could break into a Maserati as easily and he replied: of course.

Might be handy if you ever do the same.

I can recommend Auto Revive near Uxbridge.

I contacted a number of garages regarding an issue. Auto Revive were prompt, their knowledge thorough and confident. They were also very competitively priced.

David is DK Engineering trained. He owns, manages and does the work at Auto Revive. He's a nice guy to deal with. He's also very good with keeping you up to date with progress.

I can strongly recommend Auto Revive.

Thanks to Roger for the original recommendation.

Further to the above, and what's new issue. If a user updates a thread, then it seems to be lost from his whats new thread. All the ones I've replied to are no longer listed. Can access them from Forum page though. Hope this helps
