I’ve never changed discs just because I needed new pads, on any car...
Not sure if glazed pads = change discs as well tho, happy to be educated...

I changed the pads on my Merc as they were groaning. Problem fixed. And far better braking.

No need for a disc change.

Just got my pads from EBC, they're the same as what is fitted to SLK & CLK 5.5 AMG.

Wonder if the discs fit?

I doubt you'd get the caliper over that disc, but I could be wrong. 4mm sounds like more clearance than I've ever noticed.

Offset I would imagine would make it not align with the caliper anyway.....

Having looked. The only difference I can see (when compared with Tar Ox, couldn't find OEM dimensions) is the thickness (36mm for SLK vs 32mm GT) and the Offset or Height (64.5 SLK vs 65.1 GT).

Anyone know if this makes a difference?

Yes, it makes a massive difference. As does the fact that the bolt holes are in the wrong place.
