Out to meet up with the guys on the Northern Run from the events forum, was on A683 up from Sedbergh (amazing road) giving it full beans and gearbox threw a wobbly. Wouldn't shift into 5th, just back to neutral.

I restarted the car, still the same, shifts fine 1st-4th, then nothing. Going out to read the codes now. Anyone?

Obviously now has a check engine light too, great.

Ok got the codes:

P0780 - Found a post on a German forum that suggests this is "Gear selection - malfunction switching operation"

P1617 - Had this already though, ABS and MSP disabled afterwards. I think this is brakes related.

Turned it on and off a few times on the way home. Might try clearing the codes and see what happens.

If it is your actuator, have a word with Ed at Christian Lewis. He’s doing mine at the moment.

Update - in at Autoshield and Marios says it needs a new clutch - reading 55% worn and release bearing is sticking and won't adjust.

Everything else tests out fine. Serious wallet pain coming my way - also need an ABS sensor thanks to an amazing design that is new bearing at £480+vat. Falling out of love with my GS rapidly!

Stuck with it! When they work well, they’re good enough to forgive the niggles.

That’s annoying though....55% worn and a replacement needed.

Clutch problems can be a pain but when the bits are replaced they feel so much better, doesn't get over the kick in the wallet but does dull it slightly

My clutch tangs went at c45% and I felt so short changed... However when it came back it was so much better with the new bearings and plate.

Hope you feel the same difference.

On the upside, the value of GS's has risen by several thousand Pounds over the last couple of years or so, therefore the cost of a new clutch and sensor/bearing is offset. And the car will be better to drive after the work, and the new clutch should be good for another 40k miles or so. In fact, having a new clutch will add yet a little more to its value, so overall, it's not so bad.

That's my man-maths for the day.

Ouch , sounds like 4k but at least should you decide to sell at any point it should make it easier with a new clutch

ABS sensor is ridiculous
