So, after thinking I will get it into the garage, get all those little jobs done that have been building up, a service and an MOT, she bloody failed, not on much, the brake lines need replacing and a Steering rack gaiter. So, anybody changed the brake lines, recommend a supplier??
Also, any decent independent Maserati specialists in the South Wales area??
Cheers for any help and advice offered.

Nothing special about the brake lines i don't think i got all my weathered brake lines replaced a few years back and there was no drama. I replaced the flexi pipes with goodridge ones and they seem good. The steering rack gaiters is also not a big or difficult job and I did this myself although you need the steering set up again afterwards. I probably got the rack gaiters from Eurospares, was easy enough at the time not sure how available they are now.

I got the gaiters from dealer, much cheaper than Eurospares were. Exactly what mine needed last time, but we're advisories in my case.

Looking at your fail notice I suspect that you need the hard metal lines replaced, not the flexible hoses. You can either buy new ones from Maserati or make up custom ones from copper pipe.

To keep costs down and get through MOT, I had my rear lines replaced from back of engine bay rearwards. There is a cover plate near gearbox where local garage was able to joint lines as routing through engine bay to ABS unit would have been quite a challenge. The cover plate provides the necessary physical protection for in line joints. On the front calipers I just needed the hard pipes between flexible hose and calipers replaced again avoiding the challenge of routing new pipes through engine bay and the pipes were in OK condition. Interesting to know why not copper as mine were replaced with copper.
It was also suggested I replace fuel vapour recovery line which runs parallel with rear brake lines. This is a very cheap pre-bent pipe from Maserati ( I recall about £15) but I had to pay over £60 for UK delivery as it comes in a Bumper sized box with 99% packaging! The problem that has prevented me from fitting this is I have yet to find a way to get to joint next to engine bulkhead - I suspect something significant has to be removed to gain access like steering rack or engine. You cant get to it below ABS unit. If anyone has found a way then advice welcome

RSM had a brake line failure a while back and can probably give some sage advise...

I'd recommend the Waterfall garage up at Brackla industrial estate. It's run by 2 brothers and they do a lot of work on Alfa's. They've done some work on my 3200 and they are very helpful with advice and assistance. If you want any further information let me know and we can meet up, I live in Treoes so I'm just up the road from you.
Cheers

Had mine fail last MOT on brake lines. Mike Roberts in Fareham has someone who will make up new lines for a reasonable price. Had mine done front to back for peace of mind (and that one of the lines actually blew on Mike's driveway :garmi:
