Third party warranty

Hi all, looking for some advice and depending on what you say here depends if i push the matter further. My car has been in for service this week the work carried out by shiltech now let me first say i am over the moon with the work they have done, fantastic professional company great price too . When i dropped it of i told them that this morning i had a low f1 fluid light come on they said they would look into that as well i then told them i had a comprehensive warranty with the car they said no problem they could deal with that .

Tuesday i received a call telling me the seal in the release bearing was leaking and that's why i had low fluid, they said they would ring the company and get the go ahead . You can guess what happens next... it's not covered it's classed as wear and tear. I can say at this point if it was warrantywise it would have been covered, i dont want to name the company until i get some feedback from members on here so what do you think ?

Most third party warranties have the golden get-out-of-jail 'wear n tear' clause.
I bought the Turbo from a dealer after having a PPI. I stated I didn't want the warranty as my specialist said they are a waste of money. So the price was reduced accordingly.

The GS came with 6 months warranty that I never needed to invoke. So no idea if it would claim wear n tear at the slightest excuse.

Your example does not surprise me at all. Looks like you'll have to pay for the fix yourself.

Don't bother buying WarrantyWise or any similar product. I'd not waste money on any third party warranty.

The only warranty worth having is a Porsche- approved warranty valid for two years on any main dealer used Porsche.
This is a Maserati forum so no more on that warranty here.

Generalisations are seldom useful ;)

As always it depends on the wording of the warranty, both Warranty Wise & Warranty Direct have wear and tear clauses but both will wave them for an upfront cost on the Range Rovers both wanted £50 fixed cost. It is a no brainer stops all the debate about is it or is it not wear and tear and makes repair faster, its broke its covered, do it

I mentioned warrantywise because in this instance it would have been covered, my warranty came with the car

If you get a warranty wise quote and then dont take them up on the offer they hassle you like mad. Sit tight and suddenly the price drops. Pay for 10 months and get 12 months cover and the like offers start appearing by text message from them.

That does not surprise me with them. My warranty is with Nuvola who i purchased the car from .

I can’t see how anyone can claim a seal is a wear and tear item -
I would definitely challenge this and start with the dealer (he has a great reputation) and may have sway with the warranty company.

I had an issue with my steering rack, I shipped it back to the dealer who sold me the car and the warranty and told them to let me know when it was ready -

You don't actually have to sit tight. I got a bigger discount on my first call with them than the cheque that was sitting on the kitchen counter....

Nuvola supplied my GTS with a warrantywise warranty and it was outstanding. Not a quibble, on anything from a lamba sensor to a wheel bearing and God knows what else in between.

You may want to edit your last post... gives away your address which may attract the wrong sort to visit.

Indeed! I'm pretty sure it'll underwritten by someone but who did you call when you needed a claim? Nuvola? Damned good on them if so and all power to Nareman

Oh right! So this is the 'problem' Warranty. Hmm. Was there no other Ts+Cs with it? Seems incredibly simple....

No warranty booklet, nothing apart from some terms and conditions on the back of that certificate which is all very ambiguous and normal small print i can understand if it was the bearing that was faulty but it was not, it was the seals that were leaking .

This is consistent with what Nuvola told me. Certainly their warranty was underwritten by themselves in house and didn’t cover any rubber components or anything that could perish. So whilst not great and probably of questionable worth they were very clear about it to me.

That rings a bell. I seem to remember Nareman mentioning when I spoke to him last year that they warrant their own cars now.

Unless you’ve spoken to Nareman directly already (sorry if you have and I missed it) then I’d call him. I’ve always found him to be a man of immense integrity who will unwaveringly put the extra effort in to do the right thing by his customers.

Well i started this thread to get some opinions and i thank you all for your opinions. It was not of great cost i think the bearing was about £400 plus labour, the warranty runs out in about a month so i wont have to deal with this company again. On a positive note how is this for service ? Shiltech took my clutch out as i said they might as well fit a new one while they had the box out, they rang me to tell me the clutch is like new and it was not needed WOW now that is honesty and integrity .
