Safe money bank transfer with code?

I would not transact on this basis. If you cannot go to the dealer to inspect the package and you don't have tine, I'd look closer to home - its not exactly a rare numbers model. But its your money and entirely your decision.

Price is good and car is well serviced.

In France it's 2 more expansive.

I don't understand why he refuses to take cash to return in UK.

"it seems the best and most economical way to get the car to you is to drive it. I would probably do this myself to make sure it arrives safely..I would need to catch Eurostar back from Lille Station so would prefer meet there. The cost to do this is £400. Train costs to Waterloo then back to Stroud £210 Ferry £75 . Fuel £80.00. variables £35.
Can you let me know if this is acceptable. This would take the total cost of the car to £5700.00"

"I do have a service book that i can take pictures of if necessary. I can only suggest you collect the car and pay on collection. We do not let cars go without payment and I would not be happy carrying cash back through customs.
My offer stands at £5300 collected."

Thank you so much my friends, I've sent him this message, hope he would change his mind...

"Hi Paul,

Thank you so much.

My UK friends are very amazed by your way of proceeding, why do you refuse paypal or cash on collection?

See this thread:

http://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/showthread.php/25363-Safe-money-bank-transfer-with-code/page3

I'm sure we can deal together but as my friend says "I wouldn't pay £5000 on a promise from someone I don't know. Just my 2p worth. He needs to be a little more trusting in you and bring the car over. I would pay the £500 deposit as the risk to him is then covered."

Make a good move for this new year and I will make you good publicity

Best regards
Chris"

I can certify I would pay him in GBP or EUR if he comes, I'm not stupid to lose a deposit of 500 and waste his time...

He sent SHS pics the car is well serivced and I need it so let's go but safe.

If you did a same day bank transfer on arrival with you. Then there would be no need for him to carry £5k through customs. They seem to be putting obsticles in the way that dont need to be there.

If the car is paid for up front and then arrives with a 9ft long scratch or undeclared damage then it sounds like there may be a few issues trying to get it resolved.

Is it worth getting the car AA /Rac inspected and if all ok with that then arrange your own transport to you ?

I think you're right and his attitude is very strange, now he is unable to bring the car so I think the deal is out.

"Hi Chris
I am unable to bring the car to you now. Would it be possible for your friend to arrange collection? I have been in the car business for over 30 years. I used to Buy many ex forces vehicles from Holland and Germany. I would not have expected any of the dealers to send me the cars without full payment. For me the best idea would be for your friend to come and see and test the car then deliver it to you. We are not doubting your integrity or intentions but it's the way we do business.
My Personal Contact Number is XXX should you or your friend wish to call me to discuss any points.
To add we can except PAYPAL should you wish to use that.
Many thanks
Paul"

He answers me:

"Hi Chris
The normal way of buying a car in this country is to view and test drive a car, then if you are happy when you collect it you pay for it or pay in advance and collect it. I have tried to help and as I said you may be able to get the car looked at by your friend or an independent and then organise a company or a friend to deliver it to you.
If your friend is not to far away maybe I can't get my driver to take it to him for inspection.
With respect that is the best I can do . I would be interested in hearing your friends thoughts on this matter and he can call me 01453 884982
I Buy many cars on trade websites that are paid prior to collection, this is normal in the trade.
Thanks again
Paul"

What do U think about it?

D you know any serious company to check and carry the car to Lille or Valenciennes for me?

I've just found another one in Portsmouth, do you know any specialist to carry it to Calais or Lille?

Thanks

Message forum member Jkulin (john) on the forum. His business is international car shipping. Im sure he can help you with a european transport.

Failing that i will drive it over myself for you if you get really stuck.

It does sound like the guy would just be using a delivery driver, who would not be able to handle the balance of the money when he got to France.

It really would be easiest if you (or someone you trust) could travel to Stroud to pick it up personally. Or (as I think someone said) meet the dealer in Kent and do the handover there.

If it is any help at all, I live about 4 miles from GL5 2TA so could go over there to look at the car or something, but I am no expert.

Thanks, I've just sent him a pm, wait and see.

Thanks Stu.

Replied Chris, our collections agents can collect from Portsmouth and deliver it to Calais or Lille, but they wouldn't get involved with paying for the car.

It would also be very expensive as you would be employing the driver and truck for a whole day or more, no idea on costs until I get more details from you.

But as the others have said, with a vehicle on the south coast it would save you a fortune to just hop on the ferry and collect it yourself.

Hi,

News from frontrunners:

"Hi Chris
The Mercedes can be brought to you on a 10 car Transporter for £380. We would have to get the car to the Transport companies Canterbury Depot in Kent. They will not do any mechanical inspection but will check the car for dents etc before loading it.
They go into Europe every Monday Morning and will drop the car directly at your address. The Company Name is Eassie Cars and are used By Land Rover and Jaguar to move cars to and from Germany for the armed forces personnel.(you can look them up on Facebook etc.)
We would obviously require the money before leaving the Mercedes with the Transport Company.

This may work for you but it still means that the Mercedes has not been inspected mechanically.
I used the car on Saturday to travel 60 miles and can confirm Engine Gearbox brakes etc are all fine .We try to use the cars from time to time t keep
If it helps we could carry out an MOT Roadworthy Check which would cost £45, this is carried out by an independent garage

Trying hard this end
Many thanks
Paul"

I don't find any "Eassie cars" on facebook...
What do U think about it?

He adds "Hi Chris
Below is the link for European Auto Services Ltd . Apologies for my bad spelling. Should you wish to contact them We would be booking the transport Via CLIVE HUISH who spoke with them yesterday you will need this name as a reference for the transport.. We would be responsible for getting the car to the transport company and paying the costs.
hope this helps.
Please note payments to PayPal carry a 3.4 % Charge which would add another £190 to your costs. We are happy to do this if you are ok with the extra cost.
Many Thanks
Paul
