Looks very clean, but unfortunately I do not have any cassettes so will be unable to make use of the car.

But a Mark 1 Clio takes me back, plastics have come on a long way and I'm surprised it's in such good nick, a credit to the original owner, my old Seat Ibiza was in worse condition when I sold that and that was 'only' 14 years old.

Thanks guys,

Have something equally as blue burning a hole in my conscience....

Anthracite wheels though....

Please buy Ewan's car so that I don't have to.

Love the Clio, by the way. Nearly bought one at a classic auction about the same time as Phil got his GTI. It was about £8k, should have bought it!

So I am in the process of putting together an advert to go on Pistonheads and Classic Car

You don't want to sell it then :D

I'd go with auction too , free sites rarely get the sort of people looking for niche cars , and if they are theyre looking for them cheap , eBay is still the biggest online marketplace .

Nice car....nice price too. Amazing how values of (please don't take this the wrong way) fairly normal cars are starting to move south.

I bought a Clio 16v 1993/K I think it was a few years back. Sort of good fun to drive but scared the bejesus out of me due to the build quality. I really didn't feel safe & it just felt like something was going to fall off all the time. Shake & rattle but not the roll!

I am sure a collector or enthusiast would hoover it up but there would be plenty of other places for my 21k. I didn't pay much more than that for a 1 owner 11k miles 2007 4200.

I bought a 1998 306 GTi-6 a year or so back for 1250 quid I think which was a 3 previous owner car with all records/documentation with 72k miles. Cracking fun & I feel safer. Seems like better value for me for nearly 20k less.

I would agree with others that a specialist auction for modern classics would be your best bet for sure.

Maybe sign up to a few and you can normally see what previous sales went through at. They also often do a valuation to help establish a realistic reserved price. I'll have a look see which ones I'm signed up to. Proxibid is one for sure.

I guess these older rarer cars are getting more hard to find and less in numbers so natural that values would be starting to rise. Good luck & I can see if you can get 20k for the Clio that there are some cracking places to put 20k into these days. Some awesome VFM out there.

Phil,

I have an ‘88 E phase 1.5 1.9 GTI and absolutely love it... spent waaaaaay too much doing her up to mint state, even had the engine out, re sprayed the engine bay, removed all the original stickers that took and eternity to remove intact, then replaced them and clear lacquered them back in place so they will be here for ever now. Also the classic 80’s light grey/dark grey with the red stipe diving they greys seat fabric, I have just got new cloth that someone in Spain found in the back of a cupboard. All original and in the original packaging. I am having the seats done this year even though the current fabric is good, just that it’s 29 years and 78k Miles old.

The Williams Clio is the best hot hatch drive out of the lot. 100%. Even better than the Trophy with its custom Sachs dampers. However the lure of the hair trigger 1.9 just defines the era for me. R5 honestly not a patch on the others, just the cachet of sitting it beside its nemesis of the 1.9.

And yes, a Blue QP indeed beckons if I can move the Clio Willams... I’ve wanted one since 2007 and the desire has not gone away.

Any help gratefully received !!

Somewhere at the back of the barn I'm sure I've got a nice blue QP GTS I could let you have for the price of the Clio.

I'm so surprised you haven't sold it, a few months back saw the pictures and to me was the perfect QP!
