Thats what I was implying. Hard cars to sell. Might be on my last, getting bored with the brand and having defend its strange decision making to the logical part of my brain.

Hi Guys I am new to the fold an hopefully will be perhaps purchasing a maserati granturismo in the next few months. I have been keenly reading the forum and taking in advice, i am hoping to get clean GT ideally a MC shift but happy to consider all if the cars in excellent condition. One thing I have noted is that there is a large variation in price, I am looking to buy one from trade and the names that keep coming up in the forums are Giallo, Nuvola ADG Sevenoaks and Dicky Grace. Their cars are usually priced at a premium .. I was wondering if everyone has had positive dealings with them and also would you still have a vehicle inspection if you were purchasing from them and should I be getting a warranty for the car on purchase or who would you guys recommend??

Thanks for all the advice in advance and hope to be joining your ranks very soon!!

Hi
Good choice of car - sublime

I bought a QP 4.7s in April this year from Richard Grace cars. Unfortunately I am not in position to give a positive recommendation for this dealer.
Regardless of good - or bad - recommendations on SM I would highly recommend an independent paid inspection, for a few hundred pounds you will get a thorough report.

My QP came with a 'clean bill of health' from a well known maserati specialist - In the first month of ownership I had to shell out quite a few thousand pounds and still spending. The moral of the story is have your own inspection done - I didn't and it cost me a lot!

I can absolutely say that Maseratis are the ultimate driving pleasure - choose your dealer and car with lots of homework

Please shout if you need any pointers on what to look for

Very happy hunting and look forward to some cool pics

Hi Everyone wanted to thank everyone for all their kind advice!! I managed to seal the deal on a 4.7 gts as i live in surrey and dont think i wanted all the hassle of a mc shift in stop start traffic!! After everyones recommendations i found a car advertised with Richard Grace a black gts with light beige interior and it actually has a mc side skirt and rear carbon fibre spoiler. I have had it a week now and it drives very different to my sl500 .. a lot more noise accleration and a harder ride. The car feels a lot more special to drive and i am glad i took the plunge into maserati ownership. I found Richard to be quite knowledgeable and also very sincere to deal with .... there has only been a slight hiccup , there is a missing maserati emblem from the rear c pillar which i didnt notice at pick up as i bought the car unseen ... but Richard has been a true gent and promised to send one in the post. I have a ctek trickle charger from my sl which has been plugged into the gts in the garage but i am in two minds about whether to buy an official maserati cover? And also i want to buy a new key but from the manuals there isnt a code card for new keys? Can i still go to maserati dealer with my two keys and ask for another key to be ordered and if so how much do they cost? The two keys are working but a bit old and scratched. Apart from that .. am loving it and hoping to meet other gts owners soon!! Many thanks guys!!

Well done!

You can get a new key by talking to a dealer and you'll need to prove ownership with a colour copy of the V5 and (if I recall correctly) passport or similar. Give Ross at Meridien Modena a call. He'll give you 10% for the forum discount and has sorted keys for me :)

They aren't cheap. I think several hundred pounds, but can't recall off hand. You can get the card as well. The key will need to be added to the car's ECU so that's a dealer / good indy job about about 1 hour labour

If you are getting a cover avoid aftermarket suppliers. I had one supposedly made to manufacturer's template for the GT from a 'recommended' suuplier. After 3 attempts tbey admitted that their templates were only generic, one was a Quattrlporte, another a Jaguar. Either too small, wrong shape or too big.

In the end i had an Oem from Dick's. I was surprised that it was more or less the same price and order of magnitude better quality

Thanks for the advice .. i was contemplating whether to buy only official cover for the garage. But on pistonheads there is a lot of talk saying that there is problems with condensation etc so using a cover in a garage is not advisable? Was wondering what folks on this forum think on this issue! :thanks1:

If that were the case no one would ever put one on. If you put one on if the car is wet, or still warm it may be an issue, but otherwise I would use on to stop the car getting dusty.

I've got a cover, just need to get my car back!
