Bluetooth OBD2 & app - worth it?

Keep seeing these Bluetooth OBD2 and app solutions and I wondered if they are any good for our precious toys?

Would be handy to be warned say of impending battery failure or to really understand what the warning light means etc.

Would love to know what owners reckon and if they have any recommendations...

Cheap reader for £10 off Amazon and Torque for Android.

The only thing you'll get from any of cheap ones is generic OBDII codes. Which can be useful but certainly not a full diagnostic. Ultra gauge is quite good as well.

I can't imagine it's anything other than a cheap POS that reads ODBII codes

Thats all it really is. I was reading up on it yesterday. They also charge you a £29 a year subscription fee after the 1st year. Its going to be limited use by the information it can read. Your not really getting much for your £29 a year fee and in most cases probably nothing.

Torque pro paid version and a bluetooth module from amazon cost me a total of £12.

I bought an ELM327 Bluetooth about 7 or 8 years ago and use it with the torque app - its a great piece of kit for run of the mill cars. It wont read a single code from my 911! worked fine on all my previous cars.
