Unless you know somebody with a hearing trumpet then its a viable solution. I thought the paper cups and string might be a step too far.

It could explain what your seeing but i am a bit sceptical. Techron fuel additive would appear to be the weapon of choice to treat the alleged sulphur contamination problem.

No idea if it works as stated but it may be worth a punt to see if it cures the problem.

From what I can see on the Eurospares parts diagram it does rather look like it.

The sender unit is the black plastic piece on a metal rod attached to the bottom of the pump. Price for the pump and sender unit is around £210 plus vat.

Having thought about it a bit more. It sounds more and more like the rheostat part of the sender unit is starting to fail. Which would explain why the incorrect voltage is getting through to the gauge and showing an incorrect fuel level.

The float arm could stick but looking at the picture there isnt much it can catch on unless its corroded.
