Due to house purchase and the recent rise in 340R values I have decided the 340R is going to have to be sacrificed on the altar of my house move!

Link to ad on Pistonheads - will do a good deal for a SM member.

The Lotus 340R was introduced by Lotus in 2000 as a limited edition, unique, Elise based sports car for the track, but also eligible for road use. It received a fantastic national and specialist press by rewriting the standards of performance and road holding for a production road car at the time. Limited to just 340 units globally, it showcased their engineering prowess and all cars were sold out at £35,000 each within 4 weeks of launch.

*All cars were delivered in 2000/2001 and various upgrades then became available from the factory.

*This particular car (No. 203/340) was kept by Lotus cars for potential development, although it was never actually used. Bizarrely in 2004 Lotus had to apply for individual vehicle type approval for this particular car to be sold (certificate of conformity is in the history file) and road registered, as the original had run out in 2001!

This is therefore the very last 340R produced and the last to leave the Lotus factory.
*Supplied new through Christopher Neil Sportscars, the car was first registered in May 2004. The history file confirms this background and also service bills and MoT's confirm the very limited mileage of just 2,900 today.

*It was supplied with factory upgrades that included a 190bhp engine upgrade, an ultra-close ratio gearbox, a titanium sports exhaust, adjustable dampers, four point racing harnesses and carbon seats.

The car also now benefits from an aluminium passenger footrest, an unused tailor made shower cap, custom made luxury floor mats and tailor made indoor car cover in Lotus colours.

As well as what has already been mentioned above the history file also contains a copy of the October 1999 Lotus press release about the 340R and two original promotional photos also from 1999.

The car was also featured last year in (and on the front cover of) Classic Car magazine in an article celebrating 20 years of the Lotus Elise. *A copy of the article and a CD of the photographs from the photo shoot will be included with the car.

The car currently carries the registration number ‘TYP 340’ which can be included in the sale of the car or if preferred the car can revert to its original registration of ‘AU04 CEJ’.

Any further questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

Sensible offers considered.

I saw one of these in Newcastle last week. Didn't have a clue what it was! Sounded very nice.

Lovely looking thing. One for Dan?

Hi Andy,

The most recent sales were Bonhams in May with 17,000 miles (and apparently the car itself wasn’t that great) £72,657. The car that sold privately in the UK last month with 5000 miles went for £79,000 and a car sold in Italy last month with 1600 miles for £92,000. So my car with 2600 miles, fitted with almost every factory extra (those other cars were pretty standard, none had the carbon seats etc.,..) and with the provenance of being the last car built it must be worth at least something close to the figure I am asking.

I'll regret selling it and be sad to let it go but I want the house more!

Having an Elise S1 111s at the time of the 340R, always liked them.
Infact bought the last 340R aluminium handbrake lever from Lotus for my Elise! When I sold my Elise for the Maser, a guy in HK bought the handbrake lever off me for a silly price for his Elise (£100's)

Certainly not doubting their value Robin...Your car is probably worth more than most due to the history. Think I was shocked as last time I looked they wee at 40k. Wish I bought the one I was offered at 26k many years ago....Such an individual car.

Wow! I remember one spinning off the track in front of me at Brunty a couple of years ago when the aging driver ran out of talent! Very funny to see a car like the 340R being driven by someone with very little track savvy.

Good luck with the Sale Robin!

That's very promising after such a short period of time.

Good luck to you my friend, I hope you get the money you're asking!

Some cars have gone crazy over the past couple of years and not just the usual Ferraris and Lambos.

I sold my JPS Esprit last month for 2.5 times what I bought it for 3 years ago.

My 22b has only 24k miles on it and the last one sold was a 150k kilometer example for £85k plus 30% import duties. Not selling her but that is many multiples what I paid for her!

I bought my Elise 11 years ago for £10k, over that time I've spent about £50k on it, and today it's worth £20k.

I'm not sure I've got the hang of this.

Could have been worse Dan...could have been worth 5k instead of 20k. Big difference between getting it right & wrong though I agree.

I'm guessing most of your costs have been direct running costs so fuel/consumables rather than repairs?
