Hi folk's, hope you are all well. Just new to the forum and after doing a bit of research on the 3200gt (im looking for one) i think this is a great place to be. I've read umpteen posts about unreliability, cels, wishbones, throttle bodies etc etc and to be honest all that seems to do is endear me more to owning one . Am I mad?
Nice to meet you all.
Cheers
Loz

If you're mad then you've come to the right place. You may have come to the right place for a good 3200 as well.

Thanks MrMickS, yes i actually may be mad lol. I have a budget (set by the Mrs) of 10k, not sure what sort of animal I would get for that. Not many indys up here but always willing to learn, fabricator/welder by trade and I can be a demon with a spanner as well. All advice/leads gracefully recieved.
Thanks
Loz

Welcome, and enjoy the search. As with most forums you tend to here the horror stories, as that's when people require help, there are also good stories. There are some excellent cars for sale at the moment. I'd it was me I'd be looking for a car that's regularly used, has a few miles under its belt, and preferably know to, or a forum car. A decent independent inspection can also save you a lot if there are issues. You need to keep on top of the wee jobs that can crop up as they can easily mount up to large sums. If you have any questions you are in the right place.

Mine is for sale yes but not for £10k and I hate to say it Loz but you will buy a problem car for that price on the whole although there are the odd bargains coming up. PK Supercars in Scotland have had a 3200 for sale for a while around that price I think.

Welcome along. 10k at the lower end of the 32 market so be careful, these cars will empty your bank balance quickly, and I mean quickly, if you get one needing a few hefty bits needing done. That said, of the 3 older sisters, I rate the 32 the best fun for a weekend toy by a mile. Good luck on the search.

It looks clean and tidy. I would want to know when the cambelt was done, some say it should have a chain replacement as it's in the schedule to be done at 68k, also it hasn't been used much in the last couple of years, after a six year lay up? It would need an inspection for me. If you can stretch to a 2001 OBDII compliant car it makes life so much easier re any engine management lights you may get as any generic reader can connect to it.

It's a late car with the upgrades, and the mileage is high enough to be encouraging but not so high as to be off putting. Good colourway as well. Worth a look. Though do not buy any 3200 without a thorough inspection by a Maserati specialist garage such as Shiltech or Autoshield Maserati. Most of the common faults are not too expensive to fix - the killer is end-float, so it is compulsory to check this.

This is Garry's old car, his forum name is gjwilson

You can send him a PM on it and find out more of it's history.

You would probably get a better 4200 for your 10k. Together with likely a lot less grief!

Thanks guys, I've pm'd Garry and asked him, and had a read of his original for sale thread, looks like he took good care of it, where its been till now though I don't know.
The upshot is I'm going to have a look at it soon.

I have a 2000 so not OBII compliant, I would also recommend a 2001 as it would make life so much easier if you are not near a garage with the necessary diagnostics. You can do a lot of fault finding yourself.
