Now then chap's, 11month's mot with no advisories, replacement throttle body and pedal pot, new boost hoses, front discs look new, rear discs have on lips on the edge, undersealed, bodywork in good condition with no signs of rust, only rust I could see was surface on the lower brackets at the rear, engine was quiet and when I drove it there wasn't any un-toward noises. Now I know the maintenance cost's are high, but worth it? Absolutely loved the thing.
Sorry forgot to add, its having a new cambelt fitted this week as well.

Get the car inspected by Autoshield Maserati, don't even consider buying a 3200 without a PPI.

What's the end float measurement? This by far and away the most important thing to check. Most other things can be fixed for a few grand, but end float repair (engine rebuild) costs more than the value of the vehicle.

With a poor end float measurement a 3200 is worth about £2-£3k for parts as a breaker. So don't pay £10k for a £3k breaker just because you tried to save £200 by not having a Maserati specialist complete a PPI. The measurement, from memory, needs to be less than 0.2mm.

Hi, thanks folks for your time, the end result being I bought Garry's old car. Absolutely love it (for now anyways haha) but really, all the horror stories don't put me off one bit. Let's just say at present I'm riding the 3200 gt rodeo

Hardly a breaker if it's a good car. There are plenty complete engines out there, 3k to 5k seems to be the price obviously plus fitting, car back on the road and sorted.

But it makes little sense to spend circa £5k on a second hand engine (which or may not have its own issues) plus fitting, plus the inevitable while-you-are-there stuff such as new fuel pump, full service etc. The bill can easily be £8k, probably more. And for something like £12k you can buy Phils car. Hence more often than not these days (with the lack of parts), a bad end float leading to damage leads to a car being broken rather than repaired.

But as the stock of cars diminishes, the value of those remaining increases, meaning subsequent repairs are more financially viable.

My friend has spent the last 4 months, via Emblem, sourcing parts for his engine rebuild. Finally a crankshaft has been found. If it passes the tests, the block can then be repaired and the rebuild can start. At least then he'll have an engine that he can trust, and it keeps his car "matching numbers". More expensive than buying a second hand engine, but less worrisome.

Yes I agree, if the car is a nice example and a keeper. It is the lower end of the spectrum where cars will be broken, not all though.

Thanks folk's,
This one will not be broken, i know it's worth more in parts as it is but that wasn't the point in me buying it, and the endfloat? What will happen will happen, but at 72500k and an auto I doubt it, yee haaa! Love it. :clap1:
Will stick some photo's up when we have some decent weather.

Just to add, the Mrs reckons I should frame it as she think's it's a work of art, as do I, how lucky am I?
