Extract from the email I received:

"Cost

£8 per car, this must be made prior to the show. As this is a charity car show I am afraid we are unable to offer any refunds should you decide not to attend."

Message I sent:
Hello again Rob

Sorry for the confusion, but it seems we (SportsMaserati.com) pulled out, and there are no tickets as a result.

May I request that we are re-instated, as I understand that we have paid for 12 tickets.

Please let me know as there are other Maserati enthusiasts that want to attend as well as me.

many thanks

Dave

This is the reply I received:

Dear Dave

I had allocated an area for Sports Maserati for 12 cars but I am afraid when I was informed they were no longer attending I have had to fill this, which I have now done with other vehicles.*

There is no longer room for to accommodate Sports Maserati and currently the show is again full for display cars. I do still have the room that I offered to your self but I am afraid that is all.*

In relation to payment the instructions sent out on payment do state this is charity car show and should you cancel there will be no refunds.*

However I am willing to agree not to charge you due to payment that Adam Vertere made for the previous display*

Please let me know if you would like this space. Sorry I have nothing at this time to offer others

I think the buzz phrase for this is something like a charity non event. Where you pay not to attend a charity function or event. :)

I think it's pretty evident that as no one came forward sooner the event organiser Rob had to make the decision to fill our club space with other guaranteed cars. We had 4 names on the list when last asked and that's not enough. Remember this is a charity event and spaces need to be filled, there is also a wait list of 40 cars!!!!

I think in future we need definite YES or NO's well in advance!

Well I'll go and represent SM in the display area.
If someone can get the flag thing to me, I'll put it up.

What a wet day that was! It would have been a great event if the weather had allowed. In the end it was constant rain from the start, all the exhibitors were waiting to be let out - originally 4pm, then we were allowed out at 3pm due to the weather. I think there were plenty of visitors, so hopefully the charities didn't suffer too much.

The Sporting Bears did well I think, and there were two Massers involved - a GTS and a Ghibli. I was the only Maserati in the display area :-(

Some photos for you...

Such a shame. My daughters 18th was much the same, supposed to be a BBQ.

Put up the SM gazebo in the garden and managed to cook under it but food was served inside in the end.

We will try again next year so support this event.
