Anyone any idea if these are a common part as not available I am told by ES.
Will check with David Askew but useful to know if there are alternatives.
These are the ones that are attached to the rack itself for clarification as there are several rod ends on the system.

There's a few people in the West Midlands who restore the steering racks themselves but I'm not sure about track rod ends, the later 4200 used TRW steering racks, if that's any help. I'll dig around if you want.

Martin,
Garage tell me the rack is TRW.
I need a right hand thread joint. The rack has a male end attached to it and I need the female joint.
Waiting for reply from David Askew and garage say they are sure it is a common part with something. Just what that something is! lol

Aren't you looking for the inner tie rods, with part no. 320250034?

https://www.maseratinet.com/pc-8703-711-inner-tie-rods-set-late-ps.aspx
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Maserati-...5-bolt-Power-Steering-320250034-/381754539224

I think most of the suspension parts, joints, rods, etc. are from TRW. At least on my Ghibli the rubber caps all have TRW stamped on them.

Don't think so.
Think I need the joint not the rod. From what I can make out the joint is fixed to the steering rack and the track rod end/joint fits onto that.
There is a tiny bit of play in the joint and I think the tie rod is ok.

According to ES I need the bag of bits (part 13) not part 43 on the next page although it looks like the right part in the diagram.

Just spotted this on the Maseratinet link you posted.
Think this may be the part.

Many thanks.
Excuse the ignorance but take it these parts come from USA and not available here?

Ah, I see, it's the outer tie rod end.
I think part 43 doesn't connect to the steering rack, if you look closely there is a joint in the bag too :)

I also think that the joint is a common part, but sorry don't know with what (the inner tie rod is harder to get, that's why I've asked)
Maybe this: http://www.yoyopart.com/oem/7970100/maserati-310220034a.html

These also look like the ones:

The MIE page also states that the steering rack end joint and the steering link join is the same part. Could happen on some cars, maybe check on yours too.

Spotted that too.
Will check tomorrow but David Askew thinks he may be able to supply as well.
Not like maserati to do something sensible like using the same parts on various components!

I recon all TRW racks have the same inner thread, so a Maser 3200 joint kit would fit too.. I bought mine from one of the German Maser supplier's on eBay for 70 quid!

I Googled 'steering racks Birmingham ' and got around 5 decent firms who could probably help you.
The British car industry is still alive...just

I ordered these last year along with just about every bush and rubber bit that I could find. It was all in prep for changing over the suspension and it turns out I didn't need any of it - but might do some day.
The other person to try is Lenny at auto-italia in the US. It is annoying getting these parts from the US, but I couldn't find them elsewhere.

I'm preparing for the same (along with subframe refinishing). Was every part still available?

No.
I tried Askew, McGrath, Emblem, Meridien and a few folks in Europe.
Then I had to go the states. I got most of what I needed from using a variety of suppliers.
This is what I was/am missing:
366200573
http://www.eurospares.co.uk/parts/maserati/ghibli-2-8-abs/all/rear-suspension-21419/366200573
I can't remember, but I think this was tricky to find too:
317020100
http://www.eurospares.co.uk/parts/maserati/ghibli-2-8-abs/all/rear-suspension-21419/317020100
I guess it might be needed in future.

Ball joints were also very expensive in the UK, but US suppliers were much cheaper.

Shipping and tax and time are the issues with the States but if they cant be had elsewhere......

Agreed.

I think all the bits cost me a fortune here is my old spreadsheet data:
Suspension capture.jpg
I guess one day they will be needed, or someone else will need them.

Blissful ignorance is best when quizzed by SO!!

You really don't want to see my 'other' spreadsheet then! In fact come to think of it, nor do I!
