My AC had previously had a chrome mesh fitted, badly, when I bought the car.Even though I painted it black I was never happy with it so spent today putting it right. I previously bought a damaged grille which I removed the mesh, and luckily the fittings, which I rustproofed and painted in readiness.

My old grille.

Badly fitted, twisted wire, and parts of old mesh holding it in.

First remove the four allen key bolts along the top, then pull the four push/clip fittings along the bottom, if they are tight push down on the spring clip to open it slightly, they will come out.

A quick spray of matt black to tidy up the radiator area.

Picture of fixings, they will be rusty so WD40 or equivalent prior to removing.

I still managed to snap a couple, so drilled out, cut off excess fitting with Dremel, and used M3 double nuts to lock in place.

New mesh fitted, grille reassembled and refitted. Looking much better.

As I mentioned on another thread this week...the old chrome mesh and surrounding caped off with a big solid Trident looks so much better than the modern stuff.

Well done and I remember doing the same on mine eight years past.
