Hi

After a couple of years of fun and games have decided to move onto my next toy, not a Maserati but I'll be coming back to this soon enough as i still fancy a Granturismo at some point soon (probably later this year I think). Sorry for a pretty drab and wordy description, this isn't something Im much good at.

Inbetween the (Considerable :) ) expense i have loved driving this , fast as **** and a real head turner, the F1 paddles are great fun and I will be re-visiting this soon enough.

This is Phil's old car, so been pretty well looked after and Ive spent the last 2 years doing quite a lot to it also, while putting only a few thousand miles on the clock.

No pictures yet, but Ill get that sorted this week some time.

This is a July 2002 4200 CC in Blue Nettuno with Beige interior. (Currently on same private plate as it was with Phil, that'll be staying on it)

110k on the clock, will be nearer 111k when it goes as am using it again now the suns kind of out a little(!)

Fairly well spec'd;

Sat Nav (never used it, looks pretty naff)
Rear parking sensors
GSM phone kit (Actually works ok, which surprised me)
Skyhook
Xenon lights
Loudlink Bluetooth for phone and streaming music - not as good as a factory system, but pretty decent to be fair
Electric seats
Electric folding mirrors

Sports exhaust (Sounds amazing)
Remapped to about 450bhp - have the paperwork from when Phil got this done (Insurance company were less than happy!)

So condition overall is ok, but not atall pristine, a number of scratches (Not been keyed or anything horrendous) , stone chips etc - the front and rear bumpers been resprayed but the colour match not perfect, was not overly happy with spray-shop about this to be honest. Small bubble near top right hand corner of number-plate in boot lid, this was next on my list to do, was quoted a couple hundred to sort it out as very small area, but the place i want to use is backed up a couple months so may not get this done now - it's not that obvious until you get up close.

Interior - actually very decent for the mileage, some wear in the usual place on drivers seat, some buttons have that slight 'stickiness' on dash area, and the air vents the silver paint is a little worn. Steering wheel leather bit worn and the airbag cover on it a touch mis-shapen (Apparently needs peeling back and re-gluing, so Ive read, but havent attempted that yet)

Drives very nice, only real fault i have noticed is slight knock from (I think) rear passenger side when pulling away, we replaced a drop-link which improved matters a fair bit, but its still kind of there and has us pretty stumped.

In the 2 years Ive owned it, some of the things ive had done; New engine bay covers (they were missing and Im pretty anal), new under bonnet horse-hair(?) cover thingy as old one was knackered, steering rack pipes replaced / refurbed by pirtek, a fairly large oil pipe under the car removed and refurbed (Again by pirtek), new rear discs. Various other minor things - i have receipts for a number of minor parts that have gone onto it.

Also had the boot lid area stripped back and treated with some sort of special sealant to prevent the (fairly common?) problem with water getting in when it rains via the aerial fixings.

Also - replaced both front lower and rear upper arms, one of the front lowers snapped (meant I had to replace hub as well) so upon inspection we found cracks in others so all affected were replaced, probably the biggest selling point on this car is I know the arms are good, and the 4 replaced have had literally a few hundred miles on them, so won't need doing again.

Tyres are only Falkens, but in good order. Alloys are some sort of 3rd party sporty looking ones, few scuffs and scrapes but overall look pretty decent and suit the car very well.

Under my ownership, in the winter this has been stored at a local facility and left on trickle charge (Roughly 5 months at a time). Only being taken out for MOT etc - which was last done in february off the top of my head. Was fully serviced at the storage facility when i first got it in 2014 - all filters, oil, plugs etc, the lot. Spent much of last year on ramp getting arms replaced etc, and then was again given a basic service this year, just oil / filter this time.

2 Keys, and all the relevant paperwork, manuals etc, service history etc etc as you'd expect. Few spares to go with it, bought full set of discs and only used rears so far, so pair of those, spare B+N air filter that i pulled out to replace with factory standard (Insurance company kicked off, don't ask!), few other minor bits and pieces.

So basically, shes pretty well spec'd, and has had plenty of money put into it as i tend to look after my cars properly, but that small bubble and the slight knock from the rear (Which oddly I havent noticed the past couple weeks but am sure still needs looking at) and the high mileage means this is going to be cheap. Also, the servicing has been done largely by Phil when he had it, and the local mechanic who looks after the cars at the storage facility i use (Over 20 years at a well known RR / Bentley specialist so no idiot) - so the SH is not as pretty as some cars.

Looking for a pretty firm £9000 for hopefully a relatively drama free sale, I hate selling cars and have never advertised one before as i always trade-in or sell to various friends and family, so am hoping to avoid PH / ebay etc if i can, hence the price. The owner of the car Im hoping to get 'may' take a PX but i want to avoid that if possible as I should get a better deal just cashing it.

Lot of sport car for the money I think, and if and when she sells i will miss her, been a lot of fun when she wasnt broken :) If i can't get £9k I will probably keep her I guess and hide it from the wife, as i'll never get something like this again for that price without having to spend the same amount again getting it sorted(!)

Located in East Grinstead, West Sussex.

Thanks
Simon

This has got Newton all over it and I remember you buying this from a nightclub if I remember correctly? :D

I'd take it as my 7th Maserati but it's just not the right price bracket for me to make a go of it :D

Good luck with the sale, I'm sure it won't hang around for long....

Yes, I was pretty drunk, saw it pop up on the forum and bought it, just fancied seeing how I got on with a proper paddle shift car, no regrets been a lot of fun :)
Plan was to keep a year or two and go for a GS, but in all honesty the wishbone fiasco has unnerved me a bit, so next Maserati will now be a gran turismo

Sorely tempted to just say yes and collect it at the weekend but I really think I want a change to something other than a 4200 for a while whilst I have the opportunity...

That's a bargain, especially for someone that just wants an occasional weekend toy. And a few quid spent on some minor cosmetics may even see its value increase. There's no cheaper way into over 400bhp of Italians finest.

Good choice, exactly what I have done. The GTS MC Shift comes highly recommended!

Shes still looking good to me Simon and for the price your asking and the work done in your custodianship its a Bargain.
Be Quick Lurkers.
I still prefer to not have the engine covers on my stead down here in New Zealand.IMG_20141114_115753.jpg

Bit of interest but nothing firm yet, the car I was looking at wasn't right in the end anyway so haven't been in a rush, however something else may of cropped up so now I'd like to ideally sell this month otherwise I've got to ask a trader friend to help sell it as I've no interest in getting too involved.

I'll take a (sensible) offer a little below the 9k asking price - and here's the good bit, a slot finally opened up at my preferred paint shop so last week she got done, so that small bubble near numberplate is no more.

Thanks

Looks fine Phil but how do you bypass the bonnet open switch?

Must be easy, disconnect or join the connectors together, needed when on a rolling road of course.
Never took much notice what they did when mine was on the rollers!

Oddly it's push to break, so if you just disconnect it, it thinks the bonnet is open. Not quite sure of the logic behind that call....

C

Surely if you disconnect the switch the circuit is broken so it thinks the bonnet is closed.

Its really just a simple bulb, battery and on / off plunger switch. If the plunger is pushed in the circuit is broken and warning(bulb) stays unlit.

To turn it off as a temp measure such as on a rolling road then duck tape to hold the plunger down will do the trick.
