Thanks for your suggestions.

Now price added also to the body of the text, 16,700£ which I believe is a fair price for a car in very good conditions and with a pristine history and aligned to private asking prices of similar cars according to my research.

I have taken the pictures on the top of my garage and are from 2 years ago when I first advertised the car on SM. I am away now but I will take new pics. Nothing to hide, the car was polished recently and it is in better conditions than 2 years ago.

Mine is not a 8 grand project car, cat D or similar. It's a flawless car in a nice colour combo ready to be enjoyed without spending 1000's in repairs. Honestly I believe is fantastic value for money and for this amount happy to keep her.

Don't sell. Tuck it away for 10 years (with occasional run out, oil change, etc) and watch its value leap as most of the other 4200's go up in mileage and down on condition. As every year goes by it'll be just that little bit more rare, desirable and valuable. So if you don't need to sell it, don't.

I like your thinking and you are probably right!

What is the best site to sell a car like mine these days? autotrader.co.uk? pistonheads? carandclassic.co.uk? are there any specialised magazines?

Thanks,

Fran

Pistonheads or a classified advert on Ebay work for me.

I would use PH as well.

Re photos, To be honest the best photos are thise that shiw off the best or unique points of the car. Anyone who is after a 4200 will know what the engine, rear end etc look like as they are all the same across the range, unless yours stands out as special in this area forget them and use the photos to show the car in its rightful environment or taken against a nice background...its all about pulling buyers into the dream of owning this car and what it could mean.

Although I recognise members on here can make some great recommendations on here (like me as I type now) there is always a risk that they highlight every possible issue with a car of this age. I experience the same when selling one of my coupe almost five years years ago. In that case despite a recent major service at Emblem and a full inspection report with NO issues at all the car was ripped apart by some who had never seen it or seen/read its perfect service history.

As such I no longer use a forum to advertise but a closed system.

Best of luck and sorry if I have offended anyone with my comments above not intended.

That is the problem advertising on a forum, every fault you've ever posted about is accessible to potential buyers.

There are a few free sites to advertise on but you'll get a lot of what is your last price, can I pay with PayPal and get it collected by my agent etc

Gumtree
Loot.com
Preloved
Free ads

Anybody looking for a Maserati will be looking on the sites mentioned PH , eBay, car & classic , autotrader, it looks a nice one so if you're not getting any interest at all it's too expensive, it's no good saying it's priced around other cars that haven't sold either , they're too expensive too.

I've been looking at QPs for months , mostly the same cars, maseratis aren't a quick seller even at a dealer where since last year you have rights galore

I tend to agree with this, I wouldn't dream of advertising my car here for this reason, the mauling received by everyone detracts from the point of placing the advert in the first place. It would be far better if classifieds could not be commented on, if someone wants to make a comment or suggest ways of improving the ad, then send a pm rather than have an open discussion for all potential buyers to see.

Thanks a lot for your comments. they are really appreciated as I have always appreciated the help from this forum. I hope my contributions has been appreciated too!

I have to say I have found the people in this forum very professional, is this a trait of Maserati drivers?, but it can happen sometimes to get inappropriate and not useful feedback. Like email sometimes the writer does not realise how bad his comments read.

Anyway my car has a pristine history and I have nothing to hide so why not to advertise here and receive honest and useful feedback! I know I am a bit naïve but I would like my car to go to a real enthusiast, someone that knows these cars and a bit OCD so can appreciate how much sweat has gone into this car. This forum is plenty of people like this!

Personally I would feel happier to buy from a Forum member with an easily to check car history than a dealer that cannot know my car as well as I do and would be likely to ask more money.
More than happy to have my car undergoing a full independent inspection before sale. If the buyer knows a bit about these car should have nothing to fear.
Of course this is my personal opinion and buying from a dealer has advantages, including the fact that the car you dream off might only be available at a dealer.

I know there are honest dealers but my personal experience with Maserati UK official dealers has been shocking, I doubt I will buy my next Maserati from them.
