Terry Keys Motorsport has been in contact with SM to demand the removal of this thread, threatening legal action. I have therefore decided to update the thread, stating the full facts of my own terrible experience with them:
Some of the work carried out was to a very poor standard - the alloy wheel 'refurbishment' was so poor that Terry Keys finally refunded the cost after a series of complaints. I later had the wheels properly refurbished by a specialist company.
Some of the work charged for was not done - gearbox transmission fluid was not drained and replaced; pollen filter was not replaced. After weeks of persistent chasing, Terry Keys personally admitted to me that this work had not been carried out and refunded me for the labour and parts he had charged for.
Some of the work requested was not completed - the car had a transmission vibration at speed. I specifically requested that this be investigated and addressed. Terry Keys failed to do anything about it. He told me to bring the car back to him the following week, whereby he would put the car up on his lift to investigate. I arrived at the agreed time and was kept waiting by him for almost an hour. He then told me that he couldn't put the car on a lift because they were all in use. He then promised to come to my house within the next few days with a spare propshaft he had, which he would fit to see if that cured the problem. He promptly forgot and never addressed the issue despite me chasing him regularly. I eventually sent the car to Giallo who immediately recognised and rectified the fault.
The car was left in a dangerous and unroadworthy state after 'completion' of works by Terry Keys Motorsport - Terry Keys offered a brake refurbishment and upgrade which consisted of skimming the brake discs and fitting braided brake hoses. The hoses were not specifically for the Maserati 3200 and so were considerably longer than the standard rubber hoses. When the car was next MOTd it failed because of these hoses. They were so long that they caught on the wheels and sometimes got trapped when the wheels were turned. This was deemed unroadworthy and dangerous by the MOT tester due to the potential brake failure if the hoses snagged or rubbed through. Again, I had this rectified at further additional cost by a Maserati specialist who knows and understands these cars. I called Terry Keys to discuss the matter and asked for a contribution towards the cost. He refused, denied any responsiblity and put the phone down on me!
Numerous telephone calls and emails to Terry Keys requesting responses or remedies to rectify the issues and poor workmanship were ignored and not replied to. Terry Keys customer service in my experience was fine up to the point he had taken my money. After that it went downhill rapidly as soon as it became clear I was not happy and wanted action from him.
Shortly afterwards I wrote about my experiences with Terry Keys on MF (SM wasn't born then!). The next time I heard from Terry Keys was when he emailed me demanding I remove my comments from the forum, threatening legal action against me. I refused as everything written was factual and I wanted to allow anyone else considering taking their Maserati to him to weigh up all reviews and make a better informed choice. I had only just purchased the car when I took it to Terry Keys; I wish I'd had the opportunity to see something like this before taking my car to him.
Despite the bullying legal threats from Terry Keys Motorsport, I have asked that Matt keeps this thread on the site so that other owners can take a balanced view of this company before taking their cars to them and trusting them as I did. I hope that other members agree.
