I had a Monte around 15 years ago, bought from Richard Thorne, who is still in business I think (mostly Mprgans now I believe). It was very agile, but not that quick. The engine was reliable, but even though mine was meant to be a good one, it rusted badly underneath. That said, it attracted lots of positive attention whenever I drove it. The brakes were OK (mine was an s2) but the pedals were so close together you would often go to brake and hit the accelerator by mistake. The other problem I had at the time was selling it again, as this was just pre-internet and the market for a 1980's Lancia was tiny and very difficult to tap into. I ended up selling it back to RT, for less than half what I paid for it! By comparison, I had a Gamma coupe about 7 years ago and put this on the Classic Cars for Sale website and had numerous enquiries, including a couple from Germany and one from Finland and got back what I paid ( a chap from Ireland bought it and took it back on the ferry to Dublin).
Still love the look of the Monte and no doubt rising Ferrari prices will have some positive effect on Monte values.
