www.on-your-marks.info
Our WEBSITE is up and running so you can look for all the information you might need, such as maps and information on the day. There is also a face book page, just type in On Your Marks and you should get to it.

Why we do it?

On Your Marks started over twelve years ago, we had a driver called Mark Hickingbottom, who was dying of lymphatic cancer after serving his country in the first gulf war, we approached the owner of Bruntingthorpe (David Walton) and asked if we could have a day with some trucks and a few cars on the proving ground, and he said yes. This went very well and we made £7,500 for his family but unfortunately Mark died a week before the event.
The car clubs that came on the day asked if we could carry on with the event, so we approached his family and asked if we could do the day in his memory and use his name,
Thirteen years down the line we have risen over £369,850+ for cancer charities, and if you add the money the charities have made on the day we must be well over £450,000, and we now get
20,000 colleagues, friends and family there on the day. An indication on how big” On Your Marks "is now, on the first year we put up 350 metres of plastic safety fencing, well this year we have just ordered 6,100 metres of steel safety fencing that’s 6.1 kilometres’.
We insist that the charities are there on the day and that some of the sick children can hopefully attend , then at 14.00 on the day we open a special Pit for them and call all the special cars in for them to get in and go around the track for free and their parents and siblings. This is very special and is the pay back for all the hard work that myself and chris put in; we both walk away with a tear in our eyes,
The companies that help us put this on, and the deal is that their employees can come as well and enjoy the day ,we have to give a special mention to A1+ cones , they have supported us for about eleven years now , and without them we could not put on this extraordinary show,
A1+.cones they come in and put out over 1,700 road cones, and then pick them up the same night and sweep the track for 8 hours on the day before the show so the track is really clean,

We really need 25 interesting cars this years as last year with the 15 or so it put too much pressure on cars to stay out to satisfy the gate.........

Just add you names to the thread and the Brunty team will keep you updates...Thanks for your support.

Mrs Catman is also up for marshalling duties. The CatDan can also barely contain himself. Anyone heard from Blu Elettrico recently, as he and Mrs Blu were definitely up for it.

My mate might be interested with his C63 AMG PP

Let's add him to the list - needs to be very much predominantly Maserati, but with the odd other "very interesting" car thrown in. C63 AMG just about sneaks in, especially if he drives it like Adrian. :D

For those who've not been before, could you please explain a little about how this all works if you volunteer to bring your maser. What happens on the day? How many laps are you expected to do etc.

Yep....

Turn up first thing - have a briefing from the chap in charge (should be AndyK, but if he turns up late like last year, it will be me or someone else...).

Then a few sighting laps, taking a driver who has been before as a passenger.

During the day, you can do as many or as few laps as you like. The idea is NOT to destroy your car, but equally it would be preferred if you could do more than 1 or 2 fee paying laps. No pressure though - if you discover you don't like it, nobody will be making you drive. On the other hand, it's quite addictive... :D

The gate will be managed by the gate team, taking the money and providing tickets for people to get into the cars. All the driver needs to do is wait for punters to be loaded into the car, drive as fast as they and the passengers are happy to accept on one lap, back into the pits and change the pax.

There's a break at lunch, with an air display, then back to the lapping. We like to rotate the cars so they get a chance to cool down. That's why we need more than the 15 or so we had last year, as that meant some cars really did a huge number of laps, rather more than was good for the brakes.

Outside the track driving, there's an awesome amount to do. Didn't see any of it last year, but the year before herself drove a full articulated truck round the outside of the circuit, there are rally cars, stunt bikes, JCBs, a funfair etc. Brilliant family day out.
