After a favour but only if you live close to Thorpe Le Soken, Frinton, ESSEX, CO16 0AA as do not want to put anyone out...

There is a car I have been talking to a garage about that I could do with someone taking a look at before I drive the 175 miles to see it. Its a project as it needs work but how much is hard to say without seeing it and could do with someone casting an eye over just to give me an idea of history, interior, body work etc....

IF anyone can help just let me know but as I say I don't want to put anyone out.

Thanks Matt.....As I said don't want to put anyone out but I do trust Newtons judgement...and as he is always taking his Maserati apart he must know these cars inside out..

Trev is in a better position than me...im going tiptree in 3 weeks so don't mind going over then but it is a long time away, depends if you can secure it

David sounds very close or PhiltheBrit who is very close and is a confirmed petrol head!

Some background info.....I see this as a possible project to bring back to it's former glory.

I
  • t's a 2005 with 105k on the clock.
  • The first 5 services where at Maserati then there is prof of another 6 services with specialists etc so 11 in total.
  • Last service was June 2014...or was it August..My mind isn't what it used to be.
  • There are receipts for other work completed on the car.
  • When I asked about the clutch he asked me how you check it....This is not a car he would normally sell and by his own admission he is no expert on them.
  • It has a power steering fluid leak so would be interested to see where this is coming from.
  • Airbag light is on.
  • Some paint needs tidying up but he said it wasn't much. May be a trick of the light but the front bumper looks like its not a good colour match in some of the pictures.
  • The driver seat would need re staining as its had over 100k worth of bum sat in it and clearly shows wear in the picture.
  • He says the engine and gearbox are fine and it drives really well.
    All tyres are almost new

Just looking for an honest opinion on the car to decide if it is worth the trip and a specialist inspection. I am not expecting the perfect example as it's priced accordingly because of what needs doing but I have a price in my head just incase there is more that needs doing.

I live 4 miles away and have a Quattroporte so know them reasonably well. I can look at it for you but only some day this week as I am off to the USA for two months at the weekend. Let me know if you need me.

Monday Tuesday or Wednesday are free except I have to phone my dentist tomorrow morning to arrange an emergency dental appointment for root canal treatment that did not go right and I have a toothache from **** right now. Hopefully that will be tomorrow so Tuesday or Wednesday any time will be OK. Just let me know name, address and phone number and I'll pop along and look at it.

Thanks Phil you are a gent.....Adam has contacted me to say he lives in the same village so is within walking distance so not to put you out as you live 4 miles away he has said he will pop around....Thanks for your offer though Phil is was very much appreciated.
