How come it was so overpriced ? Was it because of the colour ?
Does anyone know what mileage it had ?
Thanks

Hi guys.
Can anybody recommend any dealers aside from richard grace who I have already contacted that could help source the quattroporte sport GTS that I'm seeking to purchase.
Also can anybody tell me colours they have seen a QP Sport GTS aside from black and tell me their opinions and preferences.
Thanks in advance

Search Fred's posts and you'll see it was last noted (in June 2013) as Rosso Mondial, Dec 2011, 16,000 miles. So, 18 months old, relatively low miles, depending on what he specc'd it could have cost c100K-110K - I don't know if the paint was a special colour option but if so that would have added another few £K on top. So not way overpriced I think - asking 20% less than new and assuming some room for buyer negotiation, for a car which was as new and everyone who commented seems to think was very attractive. And someone obviously bought it. The crash damage was all fixed so would have been irrelevant.

Hi npaskin
It seems way overpriced to me in my humble opinion judging by what cars have been selling for in late 2013,so far in 2014 and continue to sell for now.
As I said the fuoco one Tom Hartley sold a couple of months ago went for around 65k,had 1800 miles,a 15k paint cost and was MC sportline spec.

I agree, Freds car was stunning and yes it had been repaired by Maserati and I'm sure it was OK but the fact remains it had been damaged and that hurts the selling price no matter how well put back together...

I see your point and you may be right - but it sold, it only takes two to make a market. ...would be interesting to know how much it went for, I suppose we may never know. There aren't many about so if you really want one you have to be prepared to strike while the iron is hot and put hand in pocket - looks like the one Andy was after on another thread has been snapped up? (much better value older car of course).

Agree with both of you guys and yes something's value is what someone is prepared to pay for it.
If the damage was not recorded it would not hurt value as the buyer would have no way of knowing it was damaged in the first place especially if it was fixed properly,if it was recorded that's another story completely.
I still think it it was overpriced but we don't know what it sold for eventually.

Off topic for this thread, but all this talk of Fred's car has made me wonder about the replacement he bought, the Fisker Karma. http://www.sportsmaserati.com/showthread.php/10788-Quattroporte-replacement Wonder how it is doing…the Fisker company went bankrupt as he was buying it in 2013. I imagine that servicing might be awkward, no idea about parts (e.g. if someone bought them all to keep the owners going). Rare car – but not so rare as to be a guaranteed investment (a future Delorean perhaps), I think they made around 4,000 as far as I can tell…? Think I'll stick with a 1960's rarity, at least we can make the parts we can't find: )

Not a position I'd like to be in regarding the Fisker. I was thinking to myself today imagine swapping a QP Sport GTS for a Fisker, not for me, I think the Fisker was a pretty car but come on !!!

Me neither......Bourekoue the other dealer that may be able to find you a car is Dick Lovett in Swindon...Very helpful and a great dealer.

Today I was thinking if the colour combination QP GTS I find attractive enough to buy does not appear on the market, how about getting one I find that's not to my taste re sprayed.
I spoke to some very reputable body shop companies today and have been quoted around 5k for a full respray,it would be fully primed and all doors, bonnet etc would be removed to do the shut lines properly,it would cost a bit more if wanted to have the engine bay done also which would involve removing the engine by a maserati specialist.
I plan to keep this car for at least 10-15 years if not forever.
My question to you guys is first of all I know it's going to affect resale value if I get it resprayed but as I'm planning to keep the car for so long combined with the fact that im planning to respray in an official Maserati colour Is the fact that it's going to affect value so relevant.
Secondly would you expect any problems with the car if the engine was taken out and put back in by a maserati specialist.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I think you've answered your own question. If the car is a keeper then residuals are irrelevant. If you're keeping it forever then do everything you need to make it the car you really want. If you decide to sell then be prepared to lose heavily or maybe not be able to sell at all. My GS is a keeper and I have no intention of ever selling her, but all mods are reversible should that ever change.
