Hi

Am new to forum , have been looking about for something new to drive the past few weeks and kind of settled on. 3200 gta.

Was just wondering if anyone had encountered this car in link before I make the journey over there to see it in person?
http://www.elite-prestige.co.uk/used-cars/maserati-3200-fh-2dr-auto-hoddesdon-201406285390169

There's also a similar one on a 2000 plate with fairly low miles that even has the spare wheel in boot on autotrader but it's in the northeast which is a real trek for me, long way to go on a punt without knowing much about the car (although I'm probably better getting a later one anyway I assume?)

Anyway, any info much appreciated if anyone's seen these. Or if anyone has a decent 3200gta on a 2000 plate onwards for sale I could be interested..

Thanks
Si

Don't know this specific car, but to be sure of what you are buying, it is a good idea to get a specialist inspection done before you buy. There is a list of specialists on here for the country.
cheers

I would suggest checking the service history with a fine tooth comb.

By the book it is due the rear chain replacement. ..which is an engine out job.

Get in touch with Cowsurgeon on this forum. He was selling a stunning 3200 GTA in grey recently, not sure if it's sold yet. The car is a ******* and has been extremely well looked after (it's my old car!). If you can't reach him PM me for his phone number.

Thanks for the advice all.

Have PM'd Cowsurgeon to see if he still has it for sale, will see what happens, looks lovely, but having read the thread on it now and looked on Pistonheads its not there so am guessing most likely sold, looked absolutely ideal as well :(

The silver 2000 one on autotrader in Durham looks kind of interesting, although having spoken to the owner there 'may' be an issue with the keyfobs not working and having to use the central locking manually or something which kind of makes me think the alarm cant be working? he says theres no button on the fobs, could they just be knackered? (Looks quite tidy and even has the spare wheel which seems kind of rare?)

Thanks
Simon

think cowsurgeon's may be gone but could be wrong. re silver, always worth looking and test driving simon, it does no harm..........just don't go making a deal on it unless you get it inspected no matter how much you love it after trying! these cars can hide a big bill in the offing if not careful. as said by another replier, if it has not had the big service recently you need to factor in a few grand to do that........

I figure Ill be throwing at least a few grand initially at whichever one I end up with as Im kind of fussy and dont like breaking down (Maybe Im looking at the wrong cars!) - but yes, it would be nice to avoid buying a total piece of junk :)

Are there inspection people/specialists available in the Durham area does anyone know please?

Again, the one at Richard Grace has to be worth a look as they are sorted cars...

Must admit I wasn't thinking black, but I'm starting to warm to it. Do you think if I flip it in a couple years for something else the higher mileage would put people off though ( I only do about 6k a year or so anyway and would be using something else for the longer distance family excursions and the like...). 12k for a 2000 model with the mileage on it seems at the upper end, but I guess buying from a specialist dealer that's always going to be the case.

My main car going tomorrow so I kind of need to make my mind up what I'm doing here..

You could pay 10 but easily pay 2k for discs and pads and a few wee jobs so pays to get inspection done, or buy a known car.

Factor in £400 for TB rebuild if not done
£300 for pedal pot
£2k for rear cam chain

£2k to cover anything else.

You won't go wrong with Richard Grace. There are quite a few happy customers (including myself) as forum members and he thoroughly deserves the excellent reputation he's earned. I found him to be an absolute pleasure to do business with and well worth the slight extra expense for peace of mind.

What about silver one with 50k on it at £10450 on AT. Looks like a nice tidy motor owned by an enthusiast. Ad reads good, worth a contact to find what club he belongs to.

might be wrong but think this has a certified 20k engine replacement............if right, can hardly call it a high miler. worth a look even if to see what a sorted one is like because it will be sorted knowing DG.

Yes, that's the guy I talked to today, seemed genuine enough. Only real negative mentioned was the key fob remotes being no good or something. Other slight thing is it sounds like previous owner to him drove it quite sparingly hence the low miles. Says it's got sports button so does that mean it's got the skyhook type suspension? Am going to call him again with more questions I think.

Not sure what club he's in but he also owns a 4200, and basically told me one has to make way and he doesn't entirely mind which.

Missus much prefers silver (thinking about it between us our last 4 cars all been silver!) and I'm just kind of thinking if I could buy at the right price and stick a few grand into it straight off the bat I'd have a fairly low mileage one with a spare wheel etc and I wouldn't be too adverse to gradually pouring money into it making it a bit more reliable / sorted.

Do REALLY like the look of the interior on the black one though, wonder if 11500 would get it? :)
