Sounds like there's no red key, am assuming that's a big issue :(

Just waiting for the service history to be emailed through now.

Cowsurgeon's car might still be for sale. He'll be in touch tomorrow. It's a great spec and has had a lot of money spent on it (lots by me!) including the cam chains being done etc. At the very least I'd suggest you go to see it as it is in your neck of the woods and would be a good reference of what to look for.

The red key is not an issue. I know what the problem is with the remote key unlock. The rubber buttons wee **** and perish meaning they become pushed in an flat giving the appearance that there is no button. My keys didn't work but I soon fixed that. They can be recoded too

Thanks , that's handy to know, it seemed a shame to write this car off as a definate no because of the code key. Can the buttons be purchased then to refit? I don't really get how his alarm can still work though without the remote working?

Am very interested if this is still for sale, I know its not ideal but for various reasons I'm looking to buy ASAP as pretty well carless by the weekend save for a van and the wife's 4x4 .

Mine are the same and you have to just dig your nail into the small button area. From time to time the buttons do come up for sale at a few quid each and are easily replaced. You can open the keys up carefully and have a look at the batteries and also if there is an RFID in place. The usual thing that happens is that the alarm system and key become unpaired and this is what can be recorded by a company on the internet.

Havent heard about Cowsurgeons one so am guessing its most likely gone.

Been stalling the guy with silver one on AT, so really I need to either arrange an inspection asap or look at something else I guess, found this one in bedford last night, might be an easier area to get an inspection done and its almost close enough to get across to myself, not sure if anyones seen it atall;

Still considering the black one in chester, but wife doesnt like black cars, but Ive got to say the interior is stunning - especially the kind of two tone looking door cards, really nice.

My car went yesterday so having spent the morning driving the wifes gutless X3 I need to have this resolved by monday latest, bit of a nightmare trying to buy a car really.

The Bedford car has "Auto Headlights & Heated Screen", never come across those before in a 3200 GTA..??

Speak to Dicky, the big advantage there, is that Autoshield do a full inspection and all that needs doing is done, plus you have a warranty within the price usually..!! I have both bought and sold cars via Dicky and the experience has always been pretty good..!!

Yep, not a great description, also i may be wrong but couldnt see the controls for the electric seats (That theyve described) on the side of the seat in their picture, so unless theyre somewhere else to the other 3200's ive now seen that seems a bit amiss as well(!)

The autotrader silver one, the MOT has an advisory for corroded discs as it was sat a while, still a little tempted as it looks nice and the guy seems sound and has been very straight with me so far, plus have found an inspection company up there. But am still a little concerned, plus its a **** of a long way to go to check it out myself. Also, rang Giallo today and they told mebasically not to buy without a red key unless dirt cheap, which I know you guys said isnt a problem but giallo and maybe the place down towards portsmouth (Roberts?) will be looking after this so I might look silly ignoring them before ive even bought the thing.

I think Ill maybe do as youve suggested, if this one that was on the forum is definately not happening (And its a shame as Id be all over it) then Ill be ringing Dicky I think, missus will just have to live with the colour (Shes going to get fed up of car sharing soon enough anyway!) :)

Car traders do tend to exagerate stuff and omit stuff they would rather not be known, Dicky is not one of them thankfully..!! I personally would not buy without a Red key, that is your Master Key and any seller worth a jot would have it, or get you one..!!

Traders also seem to use templates a lot of the time with car descriptions which can put all those things in when they are not actually fitted, lazyness on their part really.

Don't rush, only a seldom few good 3200's go on the market each year. If black's not for you, don't buy it. Wait until the car you want comes up for sale, but please please, don't go and buy any old car out there, no matter how good it looks. The Bedford car has had 4 services in 13 years.

i dont think you will ever need the red key will you? mine has been off the road, battery flat for months, engine rebuilt, sat again, broken down, sat again, crashed, sat for 6 months, still not needed the red key! worst case your key did break/lose its code im sure you could get it recoded anyway.

The missed services can hold potential problems. My car is reasonably well looked after, just had the belts done, were a year late ( on time,) the belt was in good codition, but the tensioner bolt had worked loose with the cam sprocket holding it in !!!! Few more hundred miles like that and I'd have had a disaster, and a possible 5 figure bill!!!! A leason learnt.

Agree totally with Richard, don't rush into it. On a separate note my car had 14 maserati service stamps and being a year newer a late 2002 so 4 is not good

I think DG correct about the correlation between the age of a vehicle model and the number of available good examples. I reckon after 15 years the only trusted sources of good examples of these cars available come from enthusiasts and specialists who spend money/time getting a non-sorted example back up to spec...........however, I don't think even with with those two we will see an increase in available good examples since for every one that is picked up and sorted there will be at least double that being picked up by someone more interested in running it as cheap as possible till it becomes financially not viable to do so:unsure:

Yep 4 services on any car that age is shocking really, I know people do bits themselves and get non stamped work off specialists moonlighting and the like (a friend has a few bentleys and has a guy in at weekends who works weekdays at one of the better known bentley/RR places in the south) but there's no way of knowing.
In fairness I haven't owned anything this delicate yet but reasonably pricey parts-wise type motors like audi / jag etc and always service at least once a year and get anything done I'm advised of, a garages dream customer/mug most likely(!)
I just don't like the idea of breaking down so tend to go over the top on maintenance..

The silver one with no red key has 6 stamps which is obviously low, but had figured on sticking a few grand or so into it straight away to try and get it more sorted. But am guessing now that's not probably going to be a great policy..

Buying a car with 6 stamps and throwing a few grand into it ........could be £10k and then trying to sell later .....you will find it hard. You really need Full service history with these cars, wait you will find one you will need to do a lot of leg work before hand but the rewards will be there at the end.

An engine done 80,000 but small amount of service history....or..

An engine again with 80,000 but with 14 Maserati stamps .

Good luck , it's a real shame you didn't see mine , it would of been good to sold to a forum member
