Noisly air con QPV

When I switch on my air con I get a noise that sounds like a dodgy bearing. Should I stop using it and can the bearing be replaced ?

Is it an engine out jobby, or two bolts in an easy accessible place and 10 mins labour ?

Cheers

I would get it checked for gas, you may be out, or about to be..!! A refill will also include oil for the pump which could be a bit dry if low levels..!! Usually only about £45 or so..!!

If it's the AC Compressor and your car is out of warranty, could be fairly expensive. This is a warrantable item.

2005 QP on a private sale, so no warranty. Will see how the regas goes and update accordingly !

I'm a little far away for a £35 regas but nice to know the ball park to aim for.

Eurospares are doing new OEM compressors at around £900, I'm going to make it my mission to find one considerably cheaper !

Cheers all

Known problem, it will be the nose bearing that has spun on the casing, it will mean having the pump rebuilt with a good used front casing, just had mine done @ moto climate in Warwick £250 + vat

Thanks - but all for a 3200 and I've got a QP 2005 4.2. Can find OEM 3200 and 4.2 Spyder for 400 euros, just the QP evading me !

I had to have a new AC Compressor on my 4200, mega bucks for what they are if you get OE and they are not easy to come by. Try the gas/oil first and keep your fingers crossed..!!

Try compressor express. They are in Hungary. One of our lads just purchased from them at around 800 Aussie versus 2000 from the dealer. Original equipment fast great service. I think we posted something on here recently.

Yes I've got an early 06 QP, I have full workshop facilities so did the work myself, however it is a bit of a pig to remove as the rear bolts and pipe work are hard to get at, I also changed the drier as a matter of course, i would suggest a dealer/specialist would charge about 4 hours labour, the turn around for the recon of my pump was about 3 days, that includes them finding me a good core casing, which along with a reasonable £250 + vat bill I thought was good value.
