You're right, number plate looks daft in that car position. I wonder which category of write-off it was. As we've seen before you can kill these quite easily if you smash up a corner and damage the brakes and suspension.

Body parts for a Stradale is silly money. I remember when Loz was looking at a damaged one to do up the front wings was something like 4 times more than a standard GT....

An extra 10k and you can get a clean car with a very little miles. Does not compute at that price.

My sentiments too guys. 28,000 miles, and been written off, yet still wanting only £10k less than a lower mileage MC Stradale that's not been written off?!? Doesn't sound like a good deal to me!

Not sure who 'Shaks Specialist Cars Ltd' are, but when they say "PROFESSIONALLY REPAIRED", I'm not totally convinced as they haven't even fitted the official Maserati mounting bracket for the MC front bumper!
That, along with the fact that the chances are the car wasn't repaired at either Bodytechnics (Slough) or Chartwell (Derby), who are the only 2 official Maserati approved repair centres in the UK, doesn't inspire me with confidence!!!

Too much given the extensive suspension damage. I'd think it was Cat C rather than D in this case.

£50k absolute tops.

You've got to love those "experts" over on PHeads who think it's not a "supercar". God love them!

I'm not a big fan of PH these days. It's so big that you get all sorts of silly comments which spoil the threads. The "not a supercar" one is typical of this. I read one yesterday on the Scotland forum where a fellow Scot, from Aberdeen in this case, was suggesting that Glasgow could not support it's new Maserati and McLaren garages (with Ferrari to come). For some time, these have only been in Edinburgh since the west coast dealership sold out and the buyer chose to concentrate on their other franchises. Of course, it's frankly ridiculous to suggest that the 4th biggest city in the UK can't support supercar dealerships. Caused some controversy and gives an insight into the mentality of some in my beautiful country. No doubt he'll vote Yes too.

That's why he assumed that only Aberdeen can support these dealerships! Aberdeen is full of money but so are Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Steer clear of CatD cars.

I made enquiries on the Black GTS advertised on PH before I bought my car due to the lack of suitably priced GTS's for sale at that time. The guy is a salvage specialist and was relatively upfront and would put a warranty on it, at the time was advertised at £45k, now £42k.

Insurance quoted at £1700 equating to £1200 more than I paid for a non damaged car, however it's the quality of the repair that always played on my mind. You just don't know! And of course you get stuck with it when it's time to sell until you find a like minded person. At the end of the day I walked away and am glad I did, for not much more than the original asking price of the CatD car I purchased what I believe is the perfect GTS.

What price for peace of mind? As they say quality never comes cheap...

Cat D cars all depend on the repair quality and the price. Most times you see them for sale they are a couple of changes down the line from the person who did the rear and this increases the risk and reduces the saving. Most of the ones you see on eBay and PH fall into this category.

I know a body shop who take on a lot of Cat C & D work on expensive cars and if they can source the parts they can do a cost effective repair. It's just another minefield you need to be aware of if you go this route.
