Warning! Don't leave your car by the side of the road for long

That's terrible. Well, I hope that parts liberated from the car by thieving scumbags were completely useless.

It does beg the question of why a valuable car like that would just be left rather than being towed out, but that's not the point.

Typical southerners; I'd that had happened in Cheshire the owner would have come back to find someone had repaired it!

A Lyne resident took the photos of the Audi’s demise, saying: “I first noticed the Audi abandoned in the flooded road on January 2 at about 8am". “I tweeted a picture mainly to alert people of the road closure."

Cracking idea - not; just like kids who tweet their parties when the parents are away then wonder why their property is trashed.

My thoughts entirely when I read it.

RS5 dashboard & airbag kit for sale just down the road from where it was stripped. Ebay seller, anyone feeling like being a decent citizen and informing plod ?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A5-S...M&hash=item27de10f5de&clk_rvr_id=583504629175

Had exactly same thing happen to my RS4 in the North (Nelson area). WAs left overnight came out in the morning to find both wing mirrors snapped off. I rang police and they did nothing. Two days later mirrors appeared on Ebay from my car (they are rare and it was in area, informed police to go round and enquire and nada.

I've just asked a question; are they flood damaged? I'll see what he says!

He answered; 'No!!'. So I fired back; "To be fair the dash did look to be above water so thanks for the reply". He hasn't got back to me.

Ok so an update on this as I do like some closure :D

Guy posted this on Pistonheads.

"This is/was my fathers car. I agree with all your comments but please read on as to why the car was left.

He could see the kerb all the way under the bridge so presumed the water level was low. Half way through the puddle the car stalled, water up the exhaust without high revs, etc. Dad opened the door only for the water to poor in!
He contacted his insurance company immediately who said there is no way they can move or touch the car due to the water being contaminated! They would wait until the water level reduced due to health and safety. Well it has not stopped has it!
We presumed it would be a write off due to the water getting into the electrics etc but waited to hear any news.
Unfortunately the area of Lynne/ Chertsey is renowned for pikies/travellers which thanks to not paying any taxes have bought houses in the area. Word would have spread pretty quickly and Dad went each day to check on the car. He was alerted that the tracker had gone off but then the signal vanished. He went check after that again only for the car to have gone!
It looks like the car was moved into the inlet where it could not be seen. It was then stripped to how you see the pictures now. It is disgraceful but that's life! "

So indeed it looks like it was moved, stripped and dumped back as the shell. Grim but as said that is life.

I'm sorry but I would have moved heaven and earth to get the car moved somewhere safe. I'd have asked a mate with a tow rope to pull me out. Not being funny but my pride and joy would have not been there more than an hour before it was made safe. AND I would have stood guard until it was moved. Just saying like!
