Touching up the black stuff on buttons?

Some of my buttons have got scuffed in recent years. They're covered in a sort of black rubbery finish - what is it and is it restorable/touch-upable? Don't think black paint would blend in! 20180707_145510.jpg

My QP has 108k miles on it, buttons aren't sticky, never replaced and not worn at all. I don't get it....

The bane of many an Italian Car Enthusiast. There are many threads on various forums detailing how to repair this. There are also places they can be sent, and come back better than new, although most seem to be in USA.

Im not sure if they are the same as the QP, ive done the steering wheel buttons, plus the ones arond the radio, the sticky rubbery stuff wipes off with a baby wipe, tedious, but works leaving the white text still visible. I'll take a photo and show ypu the result if your interested...

Is this some kind of inner circle secret? I've been keeping my eye out thinking I might re-enter Maser ownership at some point soon now the kids are a bit older, and something I've noticed about a few examples is the state of the controls. Would be good to hear if this isn't a major setback.

Not a major setback. Many cars suffer this issue as they tried to move away from solvent based coatings. Mrs C's 147 has exactly the same issue.

Lorenzo' provides a service which is very reasonable.

Ping Lorenzo by PM. He has the definitive, permanent solution

Sorry for being dense, but how do I PM a member? Not finding any options (I'm accessing the forum via a smartphone browser). Wouldn't want to inadvertently broadcast a PM to the whole world!

yes please Mattp, if it's not too much trouble. Did you repaint them with something else, or leave them in the rubbed-off state?
