Quite the opposite IMO. The CC is not comparable to the auto in the 3200. At least there is manual flappy paddle control with the CC whereas the 4 speed auto is more placid and dumb but the manual is full on nuts almost hooligan. Each to their own but. I'd rather have a control of which gear I'm in especially on a car with such turbo lag. The only downside of the manual is the clutch replacement but I reckon the one that people will want in another 20 years will be the manual 6 speed.

Agreed, but I want this as well as the GS. Only 600 were made worldwide so they are rare too, so a good one to keep for the future and to have some fun in.

Matt, did you do the deal on the silver one......?

I think we may be talking at cross purposes Contigo, to clarify:

The 'manual' I referred to in #15 was a lovely 4200 that Dicky had for sale; imho the CC is more desirable with 4200 manuals taking an age to sell.

My manual 3200 AC was a superb car, and although it's not really fair to compare different generations/configurations back to back my 4200 CC is so much more relaxing to use.

Peter, I have been eyeing up the 3200 lately too. I am also on the hunt for an Alfa 3.2 phase 3 GTV, I have one lined up so I might just settle for that for now, similar performance, Italian designated, and has the feel of a proper Italian sports car.

0-60 in 6 dead, 160mph and would stick to a 4200 point to point and not be too embarrassed in a straight line drag.

I too considered a light green 3200 that was on Pistonheads, it had full main dealer history...and I do mean FULL. Only issue was a bit of rust on the drivers door and the boot lip.

Spot on Andy, loads of JTS's which is a poor engine compared to the TS it replaced.

Besides, with the advent of SportsAlfa I need something to turn up to meets in and anything with the GTA engine gets respect.

May go down that route myself, as a stopgap.

Or maybe somebody would be so good as to sell me the original V8 Brera concept...

Got to say either my GT was a bit screwed, or my 4200 is an excellent example. I don't think any of those statements really matches my experience. Might be better with the Q2 installed and some serious suspension mods, but as is the 4200 is wayyyyy more capable at putting the power down, holding speed through corners and dealing with UK standard roads.

Llandow Spring 2014, its a date!

GTV 3.2 point to point is just as quick as a 4200 from my recolition.

Ok it puts out 250hp so is some 150 down but its light and you are right with a Q2 diff makes a world of difference.

GTV is some 350 kg lighter than the 4200 remember. I remember giving chase to a mate in an M3 and he was ****** off he could not shake me. 4200 vs an M3 round a track, don't recon there is anything in it.

My 3L GTV was had the measure of the 4200's at Llandow.....The were quicker on the straights but just couldn't shake the little Alfa.......Mind you mine was well sorted and with some tasty bits added.

Indeed Andy. It's no V8 but people forget just what a peach that Arese V6 engine is. Also the GTV chassis with a Q2 also has dynamic rear wheel steering. The only negative about the V6 is that it is a bit nose heavy but is immense through the twisty bits.

In the Alfa GT it's not quite as fast as the chassis is quite wallowy but to be fiat the GT has better brakes.

Sorry sorry! I realised you mean GT*V* I was talking about G*T*! Ignore everything.

Anyway Llandow would not be a fair test, I suspect you'd be able to beat me in a Reliant :)

I had upgraded disc and pads on mine to Matt.........but as ou say the Q2 is the main thing to add...
