Spyder - Panic

Driving home on the motorway tonight I heard a sound like a low flying microlight coming from the rear, slowed down and the noise went away., sped back up again and it came back. No warning lights all gauges fine, no obvious signs of lack of power, lumpiness etc.

Pulled over & stopped. Checked all wheels and tyres, looked underneath everything seemed fine. Drove home no problems and no noise. Put the error reader on her nothing everything looking good. No idea what it was but it did have me worried. Mrs Z thinks it was some other traffic and maybe it was but seem strange it went when I slowed but came back when I sped up.

I guess I will worry about it for days now.

Maybe you collected a polythene bag and stopping allowed it to blow away unnoticed?

My advice; get a really loud exhaust so you can't hear any extraneous noises that the world inflicts on you. It works for me.

Hopefully it was just a plastic bag. The under tray at the back can come loose and maybe oscillate in the under car wind?

Only other things I can think of is check the gearbox has oil and double check the rear tyres.

Also you have the fuel tank right behind you, maybe its time to replace the carbon canister or maybe a fuel pump issue but they would both not be very loud.

Probably just one of those things that you will never hear again.

Reminds me of the old joke about the moped riders who's braces are caught in the door!

Remembering that one made me giggle :)

It goes with the "and following behind is a little old man in a Morris Minor, flashing his lights and beeping his horn but they won't let him past"

Just booked it into Emblem for it's pre Le Mans checkover so they can have a mooch whilst they have it.

How do you get it out of second gear? :)
