I know, I know; it's still August!!....but...

Time to get your thoughts and comments for the 2012 Christmas gathering.

In previous years the format has been indoor karting followed by a run over to Ace Cafe for lunch and chat, then a blast to the hotel in Marlow to get checked in, a meal (Italian of course) and then back to the hotel for drinks and merriment.

This format has served us well, though I wonder whether it's time to look for a change of hotel and restaurant?

A Saturday gathering with Sunday to recover seems to work, so looking at the calendar, the December options are the 1st, 8th and 15th.

Thoughts / preferences on date?

If we do look at another hotel, would our Midland and Northern members join us if the hotel was more centrally located?
Does this in turn mean sacrificing Ace Cafe?
Karting - yes / no? Plenty of options available, so shouldn't be impacted by hotel location.
Evening meal - Italian? I take it this is okay?

Any and all comments gladly received....

Thanks and regards, Miles.

Hi,

I'd definitely vote for a midlands setting in order to encourage wider participation. The north-eastern side of Birmingham would provide good access for pretty much everyone (M6, M1, M40, etc.)

I can do either really, stay at a mate in Brum....found a rather splendid Italian in S Coldfield or Marlow...stay at my sisters.......but Brum would be a preference....depends on where everyone will come from...bearing in mind I will fly over

Change of hotel and restaurant for sure. The drinks last year were silly....and if we want to drink all night, then we should be aloud to.

I thought the Karting last year was brilliant, not just because myself and Chippiepilot won it!

Midlands, sure, I am sure there must be other transport related cafes somewhere.

I know you didn't expect the crazy Greek in the yellow van to be part of this thread, BUT... i have missed last year's Ace cafe meet, AND i can combine this year's meet with watching one of my favourite bands, named mostly autumn, who they'll never visit Greece.

They'll be playing across UK between 6-10/12/2012, so the 8th would be fine for me.

Do not take my voting for sure, but be sure that'll be watching this thread. I can combine watching the show, meeting you and visiting London, it could be a nice 4 day UK visit.

Perhaps a hotel with a bar-come-nightclub open until 3ish.
A lap dancing establishment open until 6 across the road would be a bonus.

Karting is always popular and will eat pretty much anything.

I'm appalled by your suggestion Dan, and I'd encourage anyone else who is also appalled to make there feelings known so we can get a list of appalled people, and a list of possible appalling venues.

Kaz will be equally appalled , so long as the venues abide by the equal oppurtunities guidelines as far as the lap dancing goes

Didn't take long to find a level did it!!! :D :D :D

Okay, so we have a theme for the evenings activities at least :D

How about the location? Pat's suggestion sounds reasonable?
Frank, you know that region don't you? Any good Italians you can recommend?

Would prefer somthing a little more central, but I guess anything will be 100 miles plus from Bristol.

Isn't there indoor karting at the NEC? get them to open a hall for us so we can have alll the Massers in the warm & get a catering waggon in for bacon butties & we're sorted!!!

Top gear style we could even have a crack at their indoor speed record!
