Nigel, theres a thread on here about a bulk buy once, I didn't fit them myself, Marios wasn't that keen on them!

Thanks Benny, spotted that, obviously, but wasn't sure whether something better had come along as that was years ago. Good to know still the same.

Frank, noted and I have great faith in Marios - happy to give these a go if the forum think they are the plug of choice.

Good to hear. Denso ordered. Will report back on whether that sorts it - fingers crossed.

Crashed and burned, ordered on ebay (driventoautomotive) and delivery date 18 Feb missed as lost in post. Now advised out of stock and delivery 9 March so lost the faith and asked for refund. Anyone care to advise a favoured on line supplier (and NGK model number in case I just give up and do it the old way via a local motor factors).

Just frustrated now and keen to get it back together to confirm the fix.

Thanks

I ordered some denso iu24 5362 plugs for my GS yesterday from spark plugs Ltd based in Chester. They dispatched them a few hours later and should arrive today or tomorrow. Price was competitive too. Don't order from Camskill they are also out of stock for 4 to 8 weeks.

If you decide to go NGK the part number is either PMR8A or PMR8B. Either is fine.

New (Denso) plugs back in and all eight cylinders joining the party again. One plug was black when extracted so looks like that was the dud. Glad to have it sorted and thanks for help.

Good news nfm, probably needs a little more thrashing to keep the plugs from geeting coked up..!!

I'm just hoping I've treated the cause and not the symptom. If a coil pack is iffy then it may be that a plug may coke up again? If so then at least I know to look at 2nd cylinder on left bank first. Will find out no doubt over next few miles. Thrashing already underway. :)

Fitted my new Denso plugs this afternoon. The old NGK plugs were fitted 30,000 miles ago and looked a little tired. Car seems more energetic, responsive and feels fresher than it did before. Next up is fitting a new bonnet badge as the one that's on now is very faded.

While i was fitting them also took the chance to clean up some of the engine bay and polish the two metal covers with the Maserati logo on them. The spring sunshine was glinting off them nicely when i was finishing up!

Make sure you mask around the badge if you are going to prise it off...don't end up with a big scratch like mine did!!!! and it was done by a professional not me!!!

Thanks for the tip, the front end was resprayed a few months ago so a large scratch would be pretty annoying.

I am planning on cutting the centre of the badge out to access the bolt underneath, then cutting the bolt and retrieving the nut from inside the grill when it drops off. I know the best way to do it is to remove the bumper entirely but i think with a steady hand it should be possible the way i am planning on doing it and hopefully much quicker too!

Great write up thanks, changed mine yesterday, found one finger tight either not torqued correctly or 'backed out' on its own, the new one torqued up fine thankfully!

Went for the denso iridium ones, hopefully an extra 0.5 bhp!

Here are the old ones, one bank looks a far bit leaner than the other side, is that anything to worry about or lamba sensors due change?

Cheers Greg
