SM Event Presence

A general comment for all of you to give advice on.

At Brooklands on Saturday, if was obvious that other forms make more of an effort to have a stand and get their name about.

Whats the general feeling on this for US?

I won't be able to this all myself and I am not suggesting we do this for every event, but definitely the major ones like Brooklands, Bristol and Horsham (South) plus other suggestions in other reaches of our county.

At Brooklands we were all scattered and might be nice to have a central area to congregate and park all our cars.

Brooklands highlighted that there are a huge number of Maseratis that attend the event, problaby most are on this forum but many arnt or are thinking about it and would want to ask question about what to look for, reliability, prices etc.

Do you think this is a good idea?

The Fiat forum put us to shame really.

I am planning to retire end of next year so will spend my time developing this forum so I don't go mad, so we have time to decide what to do.

I feel sail banners and leafleting of cars is a minimum at any event and we should all carry a forum sticker:

Definitely.

There were areas for pretty much all makes, except Maserati's. They were here, there and everywhere.

A Maser only area would not only mean more coverage, but it would be a better chance prospective buyers to see all of the different models.

I think that' an excellent idea Matt. I had a bit of a trek to reach Brooklands this year, getting up at 5 and collecting my cousin which meant I arrived late and was therefore parked nowhere near the main core group. I counted 4 different areas around the site where there were a number of Maseratis grouped which we could fix with one, central area assuming of course that the organisers of the event gave it their blessing. It could only help the SM forum to grow and ultimately benefit all involved.

You're right about the Fiat club and the Abarth club too in the car park to he left as you entered, they also had an excellent presence.

OK, Ill get some funds together and get the branding re done. SportsAlfa.com has been rebranded in the same way I proposed SM would be done but the logo does not work with the long "SPORTSMASERATI" text, the way its does with "SPORTSALFA"

The other thought was to merge all Italian brands under SportsItalia.co.uk but that would take it away from a dedicated Maserati forum that I loathed to do as its been so successful.

why not the sportmaserati logo cut out in a circle for us lazy sods who still have tax disc covers on the windscreen?

I am with all on this. For a brand name like Maserati, there really should be consolidated presence at all possible events.
On the banner logo front, how about replacing Maserati with the very logo itself?

That's what I was going to suggest, or maybe a sticky like the centenary one. It would also give the public an idea if they were checking out our cars, maybe with a view to buying, and it would point them in this direction.

Think this is a very good idea and timely given a new wave of Levante owners (hopefully) arriving soon

Great idea - it would be good if we could get one or two for more northern meets as well. Whilst we are on promotion, I wondered about getting some business cards with the web address on to leave on other Maserati that we stumble across.

Good idea. Used to do that for Alfa Owner before they went all corporate (i.e. sh!te).
Think they were a quarter of A4 if memory serves me correctly.

We used to have a Maserati Club area at Auto-Italia Brooklands many years ago and it worked well. It's a good idea.

Good idea - it would seem daft not to. Happy to help. I'm sure we have plenty of talents, contacts and experience to really do something effective for marketing the forum.
