Only problem with the bicycle option is it's not a 4 seater as requested. So, tandem with a 2 seat trailer?

If you insist on a car... I'm with the Abarth suggestion or Focus RS...

My daily commute is 6 miles in total (return), on a quiet country lane. I find the GranTurismo handles this with aplomb, so with the OP's budget and requirements I still think this is a good option. So why have a supermini/hatchback etc when you can have a far prettier and more stylish GranTurismo!?

You'll struggle to get a nice, sensible mileage GT-S 4.7 for £30k. You really need to spend £35k or more for that. But at less than £30k you could buy a lovely 4.2 version.

Contigo GTS seems very well sorted for a bit over £30k.
When I bought my 4.2, I was obsessed w mileage and got myself a 28k miles one and ending up paying too much a premium. I have no problem buying a well sorted 50m miles to save £10k and get a seat in a better car

The V6 still sounds pretty good and certainly one of the best sounding V6's out there. I agree there is still some way to go on depreciation on these Maser's though. How about a Merc that has lost most of its money such as a 2007 or later CL500. Not ruinous to run compared to AMG examples, cheap enough to buy, quick, comfortable and still modern enough.

That’s an incredible value!! That car is a monster. Just not sure of mercs reliability? Why would a bullet proof car be so cheap, esp as they were close to £100k new?

Nobody wants cars like this any more when they get a few years old. Many think they will be ruinous. Sometimes they are but often they are not. Pub talk & stories from this who have never owned it know scare most off.

I have no issue with older big lumpy cars especially if you are a little handy with a spanner. If they don't go wrong much your quids in with virtually zero or low depreciation. If they do then it is just a running cost that could occur to the same value of a newer one anyway.

I am just selling a 56/2006 XC90 4.4 V8 SE Lux I bought from the 1st & only previous owner with full Volvo Main dealer service history for circa £5k. Awesome VFM.

If you buy something at 5-10k the very very worst that could happen is you throw it in the bin, break it for parts or sell for scrap. Not likely but that is the very worst that could happen.

Dean - what sports or GT car do you think falls into a similar category?

Makes sense. I still don’t get how a 2010/11 SL350 goes for £15k w 40k miles and a SL500 starts around £23k w similar mileage... are those MY still as unreliable as the early models used to?

I've had my Ghibli S for 2 months now, and I'm absolutely delighted with it! Sounds fantastic, totally practical (if you have kids) and is full of theatre, like any Italian thoroughbred.

(I know this is an SQ4 but it's essentially the same car)

What I particularly love about this car is that it strikes the middle ground between the wild character of my previous GS and the luxury of my previous GT - it's a real Jekyll and Hyde. So many modern cars utilise the biturbo concept nowadays - but it was invented by Maserati .

Would be a great complement to your Ferrari ...

That's got to be worth a look especially with variators done. Such a low price for the miles.mmost at that price point have 75plus miles.

Still perfectly fast enough for the work commute, and just as pretty. After all, you've got the 430 to satisfy your need for speed. (And the GranTurismo will depreciate less than the newer Ghibli or QP IV.)

Personally I'd not bother with something like an Evora (or other sports car) for the daily commute - too much of a compromise in respect of practicality (getting in/out, etc.)

My 4.7 MC went for mid 30's in the end but would of let it go for 30K to a forum member - 32K miles and absolutely mint, I think a second car 4.7MC for 30K is possible, but for the same an M6 is hard to beat.

Just read Aldous Voice monthly newsletter pointing out that the selling price on all marques have really soften over the past few months. He pointed out that Maserati GT specifically got a “knock back” recently.
Really interesting how AM db9 / vantage have remained fairly immune to the sort of depreciation GT have suffered.
Although I also love AM, they are more prone to reliability issues and don’t get close to the quality of the GT finish-wise... at least the 2007-2009 models
