Running a wire through boot into rear shelf

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to DIY. Just wondering if this is easy to do, and if so, how do I go about doing this?!

I want to connect a solar panel to the battery to trickle charge it so it doesn't drain on me. I park in a multi-storey so there is no mains supply, just access to some sunlight.

On a separate note, anyone had any luck with solar chargers in general?

You will need to remove the rear shelf and its quite an involved job:

There should already be a hole to use to route the wiring.

From my experience of my mother's car, the solar panel is really only effective to a point and will not really help for a prolonged period of no use, but it should be fine to top it up during the day provided there is plenty of light of course
