Hi
Planning to take a trip in mid June up to the North York Moors - Whitby etc....and stretch the legs of the GTS, never been that way before so looking for some pointers for a decent route - I have a couple of days so can afford to drive round in circles to take it all in.
Ideas welcome

The road from Pickering to Whitby is a great one, as is the road that goes north across the Moors from Hutton-le-Hole.

Ditto the comments re Pickering to Whitby - we were up there recently and stayed in an excellent farmhouse B&B outside Skipton - using an AA map book which highlights scenic routes we had a stunning adventure - the only drawback was not enough time and the sea gulls also like the Whitby (which was busy, despite it being a rather dull/damp day) fish and chips

There are some lovely roads. I'd go for a mini-meet but will have to see how my driver feels about driving with you lot ;)

A mini meet sounds great

I know some roads around that way, but not really a GTS type of road. More for Evo or Impreza. (Goathland down to Beckhole and out the other side)

If those roads are fun in an Evo or Impreza, I am sure I will find a way of enjoying them in the GTS

Where will you be staying, there is a conundrum of roads, routes, ice cream in Helmsley a must, fish n chips in Whitby a must, I should be around on a Sunday, Mick S May be chauffeured, but I’m sure can sort something, the road past flyingdales, sshhh, is mega when not busy, Blakey ridge can be quick and the stokesley to Helmsley tt is a great road, camera aware tho...

Not exactly sure where I will be staying but here is the route so far.

So up on Friday afternoon from Sheffield and most likely to Richmond to meet some friends and perhaps a drove into the Dales before heading over to the moors later.
Ending Up at Stokesley again at the end of the day and then to Stockton ready for Monday morning.
Still got lots of time to adapt the route.
Any suggestions on places to stay would be great.

If you're staying in Richmond, this is the route that some of us did over the early May bank holiday.

The road up to Alston is often reported as one of the best in England (and it is) and then you come down over Buttertubs Pass through some fantastic countryside. MrMickS has put up a video if I could find the link to the thread from before. You could do the first part and then stay on the A66 back to Scotch Corner and then over to Stokesley.

If you mean by the middle of June......17th, then there is the Father’s Day Classic Car Show at Castle Howard. Give you a chance to drool through the windows of ‘Specialist Cars of Malton’ if Porsches are your thing.

Shame about the dates, I'm away that weekend. Down at Blenheim with my red trousers. I'm sure you'll find some good roads to drive though.

Here's a link to the video that Doohickey mentioned

Depending on what your driving I'd stay away from this if it has a clutch! The queing into the is approx. 2-3 miles on every road. I've tried twice in the GT(with MC so clutch fitted) and turned around both times. Sat in a jam with the engine fan going and the thought of a £2.5k clutch makes me bottle it every time.
